The dc services stewarding closes tonight if anyone wants to go down that route

I've just agreed to attend an engagement party on the 25th. I've finally acknowledged Glastonbury 2016 is out of the window. I am so sad but at least I'll be partying, just a bit more civilised. (Edit: who am I kidding I am going to get Glastonbury style wasted)

Thanks! Let's see what happens! It's £280  mind. I've done the last 9 in a row with a ticket so my luck was due to run out at some point. We've always gone as a big group but we didn't get tickets and I'm currently going through a divorce. So I don't actually mind going by myself down the volunteer route.

Sadly because it's paid work I can't do DC site services as I can't do any other paid employment on top of my work contract  still trying all of the volunteering options and competitions though. I'm still not accepting I'm not going haha! Lost hope I think!

Who would stop you? Get the money paid in to someone else's account? There are always ways round stuff like this.

Would have to ditch the kids if we went down this route unfortunately so it's a bit of a no go for us  good luck to anyone applying that way though.

I'd have to give them my national insurance number so tax etc is linked to that.

What issue does it cause to your contract though? I'm a contractor if that helps?

I'm not a contractor it's just a clause in my contract. It's probably something to do with working time and tax allowance. And the fact id be taking time off work to do paid work. My boyfriend is in the same boat so we'd rather do non paid volunteering work

I'm pretty sure they can't enforce that as it becomes restrictive earning. Anyway, it's up to you guys if you'd rather play it safe. How much do you think we'd actually get paid. I bet it's only minimum wage  so it won't be much?

Also just thinking of ways round this too, there would be nothing to stop you paying the whole lot in to a pension fund?

True. I guess for me I don't want to hassle my current job and actually id rather do it unpaid and give something back to the festival  we're still hoping for drop outs in the litter crew or oxfam something that helps the festival out as well

Ok, good luck! There's always a way round things. You could donate all your earnings back to the festival. And I'm pretty sure your employer wouldn't begrudge you doing that.

Yeah, they can. Extra work may impact on someones duties in their main job, which can be enough for an employer to add a clause into the contract. It could fall foul of working time regulations, and some jobs like HGV drivers have specific regulations dictating their working and rest hours.

Yeah, I work for a company that employs HGV drivers.

That's fair enough and I can understand that. But what I mean is that if you tell them what you're doing, unless it causes an issue like you've raised, I'm sure they wouldn't say no.

Exactly. I went to reply but didn't have enough characters to say what I wanted then realised someone with an attitude like that didn't deserve the effort.
