Help - girlfriend is there - need to join her!

My girlfriend is at Glastonbury and I really want to join her to share the experience.  I'm absolutely gutted to be watching from the sidelines.  She's gutted too that I couldn't get a ticket.

I tried and failed several times to buy a ticket through official routes but a good friend who’s got a ticket and has just arrived now thinks he’ll only be able to handle the first day or two as he can't drink etc and he’s recovering from a big operation.  So potentially (provided we can do something pretty creative with the wristband swap - which as a trained model maker I'm pretty confident of being able to pull off), and he gets a pass out when he leaves on Saturday afternoon we could do a bit of a swap.

Similarities are ermm, well we both have dark hair and I'm actively cultivating some stubble to match!  I've no intension of defrauding anyone and if I could have paid for a ticket then would have - I tried really hard to get one and will try next year as well.  Will also make a large donation to one of the charities on site if I do manage to get in.

Before I make the long drive down, what do you think my chances of success are?

Not been before, how closely do security scrutinise people coming back in who have wristband and pass out?  Say late Saturday afternoon would they be more relaxed about things?

For the past few years I've stayed off site, which meant going through security each day, and I've always had my ticket, wristband and pass out scrutinised very carefully indeed.  I think it's harder to get through when it's so quiet.

Do you think you could pass for him in the pic?

Potentially if it was only a quick glance - full on scrutiny might be more difficult.

Ever had ID checked when going back in on a pass out?

I got ID'd going in for the first time ever yesterday. Then again not sure how bothered security staff will be by Saturday afternoon.

Sounds promising - is that just ID'd the forst time through, what about for folks on a pass out?

Hmm, would arriving in fancy dress be a possibility?

Try taking a crate of beer with you. That way it'll look like you've just popped back to the car for it.

Good idea!

yeah don't turn up with a massive rucksack and all your stuff...if that's possible

All I'd need is sleeping bag, girlfriend has tent, camping kit etc already in there.  Could maybe just buy sleeoing bag in there, or leave in car and send someone else back out for it?

totally agree with the case of beer and no bags idea - we did that for a mate a few years back - they had already turned him away once and then we gave him a silly hat, we took his bags in for him and he walked in a few minutes later looking drunk with nothing but a case of beer and they let him straight in!

Jedi it!

Really, even through the turnstiles and everything?  They do have turnstiles now right?

Yes.  I've been asked to show my ticket stub, pass out and wristband every time.

I like the crate of beer idea.  It may also be good not to look too clean!

Yeah it was fine - admittedly it was dark by the time he tried the second time but I reckon it's all about not sticking out from what they expect to see - like someone else said just walk through as if you're already in and you should be fine....the first time he went through he was sober and a bit scared and they obviously smelt there was something up...

bit of dirt, silly clothes, bit of a wobble, case of beer and preferably aided by low light and you should be fine.....hopefully!

Is there a best gate to head to do you think?

Also if there's anyone who owns a stall there or works at Glasto and needs someone to work for a few hours on the Sun in exchange for a pass, which I'll also pay them something towards then please get in touch.

We went back to the car today andcoming back in via passout was far stricter than when we rocked up yesterday. Full on checks.

Hmm really, as in extra ID, or just ticket, wristband and pass out?  When they check wristbands are they inspecting them in detail, close up, or so long as they see it's on your wrist is that fine?
