Weird internet stuff

I thought I'd share some random internet browsing results, I'm always amazed by stuff that's out there.

I came across this article this morning, and what fascinates me most about it is that people are so curious about the sex lives of other species, including extinct ones.

So, what I've learnt today:

Dinosaurs probably had penises and had to squat to have sex.

Some bats have oral sex, have sex with comatose females and have homosexual encounters. And run the risk of humping themselves to death.

I knew about dog sex. (Before you ask, I had a male and female dog once). But the warning about watching Youtube videos of animal mating rituals was useful - apparently it makes you seem a bit of a perv, as Youtube thinks you're into a bit of bestiality.

That last bit might be true, because this article came up on a random feed, and I recently posted a video about the mating dance of leopard slugs.

....interesting... don't know what to make of that, the name snuff puppets put me off, I like the idea that it's interactive and you're encouraged to cuddle up to it, hugs are good - but 'get inside'? I think you'd have to see one in action.

Urgh. I'm so sick of this "comedy and satire should attack everyone!" line of argument.

People pulling out "but my free speech!" to excuse any and all shitty behavious has become the rhetorical equivalent of "I'm not touching yoooouuuuu!"

That isn't where the term and genre satire originates and isn't the traditional usage. Satire was a Latin form used to ridicule the vices of the day. From Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Medieval Europeans, all targeted the rich, powerful or privileged... politicians, generals, the Church.

This continued through Western political development (poems and plays and books, later cartoons) to attack the foibles of the age or powerful people or institutions. And so it exists today, be it Brass Eye, Private Eye, or The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

In this sense Ari Shaffir is not a satirist, he mocks the afflicted. He bullies the weak.

The full article doesn't function properly on y iPad, but I'm prepared to give shaffir the benefit of the doubt on it for now, purely because I don't know the full story, I'd be interested to hear his take on the story. I've had a bit of a love/hate relationship with shaffir for a couple of years because he is a regular guest on joe rogans podcast and is a friend of rogan, I've heard him justify some crazy shit in the past and been quite convincing about it. All I would say at this stage is to hear his side of it, totally not defending him on what I do know, but I also know that not everything is exactly as it might appear with him. Nor from a (potentially skewed) blog post written about the situation.

No I know, but you see it used so often as an excuse on the internet for people to justify any and all shitty behaviour and opinions and dismiss criticism.

Years ago before even finding efests I searched for "TITP" in a hope to find some information about the festival in Scotland. The first hit on google took me to a sight who's owner calls themself "the tit pig". The second hit brought me to efests. Feel free to go and search for "the tit pig" but be warned its not work friendly (and possibly not even home friendly!!!!)
