Food in the CV fields

Right, obviously most people in the CV fields will be fairly self sufficient, and I know there are 'supermarket' places on site in the festival, is there anything like this in the CV field? When arriving on the Tuesday I'm fully expecting nothing to be open, so am planning to just kick back in the van, have a bbq etc, but I was more thinking about the following morning for breakfast supplies incase any of the essentials don't survive the journey from london (I'm looking at you eggs....)

What kind of van do you have, or how do you drive?? We've broken stuff on trips before now, but the eggs should survive the journey ok, especially if they're on the floor or in a larger box that's stable. The 'shops' in the East field (only one I've been in) are burger vans and possibly a milk/paper/fags stall, so you should be able to buy eggs from the burger staff. You could always check nearer the site, and stop off at a shop to replenish the box? (I don't like eggs, so have none to offer as backup)

Which field are you in? I'll look out for a wrestler if you're in East, we have a yellow and red Catalan flag flying on a Hymer from Wednesday.

I'm in east too, the 'van' is actually a 33 year old caravan i picked up and have been bringing back to life for the last couple of months!, and from all the reviews of my friends, I drive like an old woman, which i'm perfectly happy about, so chances are everything will get there intact (and slowly), but i worry about such things!

was only supposed to keep her for the summer, but i'm getting rather attached to the old girl.....

Snap, according to my family, but not like my mum, who's old and is faster than Stirling Moss

They are addictive. I love the open road (since they're all building up in a queue behind me)

I'm also in CV East with an old Coachman Amara 520/4, which will probably have an awning up as well. A bit like this.

My car is a silver Audi A6 Allroad Estate - reg no LV05 FYF. We'll have our usual daffodil flagpole and hopefully good lights up it.

Aiming for E23.

There will also be a Gumpyhack Lives Here poster in the window. Do call and say hello.

Last year it was just portaloos at the top of the HoD in CV East (and they weren't that well serviced), some more at the bottom of the HoD that were a bit better.

The portaloos in our field (e17,18 generally) were portaloos, but cleaned each morning definitely, and generally ok for the whole festival. There's CV waste water containers by them too.

  • 2 weeks later...

I will also be in CVE again this year. I was in East 23 a couple of years ago and East 22 last year...hope to bump into you guys :D I'll be towing my ABI Dalesman 450-2 with my blue Audi A4 (BK07 UPG). I will be flying a blue and yellow MTFC Flag.

I just looked at this years map and East 22 is greyed out ?!? What's that all about...is it being used for something else this year?

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
