linux / unix

After additions / changes / swap-arounds with the computers in my office I've ended up with a few 'spare' PCs, so have decided to better check-out what linux is able to do for me as a desktop machine.

After a bit of quick googling yesterday to try and find out which was the best version to install, I plumped for Linux Mint as that seemed to be the one that was most widely recommended (I've previously only used Red Hat & Fedora). I downloaded the install disk image, burnt the image to DVD, and installed it - all a complete breeze, in fact it's probably easier to install than windoze.

Having got it installed, I want lots of cool software to install. Does anyone have any recommendations?
