Aha, I didn't think I would have needed to have mentioned that you'd still need to register. You'd go there with your details and everything. It'd be a process similar to the current one, just with that presale.

Also, it wouldn't be ALL of the tickets (In fact, 10,000 is the same allocation as coach tickets, less than 10%, right?)... It'd be a selection of people. You'd get a lot of the casuals like "Nah, I'll just get them online next week", and the people that turn up would be the ones that REALLY wanna go badly.

The only (kinda significant) problem I can see is that you might get people charging to queue up on someone's behalf... But you could eliminate that by your photo coming up on the computer of the ticket cashier and them having to confirm it's you.

Admittedly, there'd be a few kinks in there that'd need smoothing out, but I personally think it's a fairly decent idea.... Like, if you go to a gig, let's use Arctic Monkeys as an example, the people that are camped out the night before to get to the front are the dedicated hardcores... But the casuals that just know Flourescent Adolescent or won their tickets turn up just as the doors open and stand at the back.... And I'd think the sort of system I suggested would benefit the more dedicated section of punters.

Obviously the major problem would be if more then 10,000 people turned up in this long queue. You would have some very disappointed people. A bit like if they had tried to buy a ticket online and it sold out

It is what it is... No one has any more or less right than anyone else to get tickets, regardless of how many times they've been, whether they really want to go or what... The system is open and fair and tout proof, so everyone pays the same price to go, which is good. Eavis may pretend to be a socialist, but is essentially a hard-nosed business man. The BBC helps sell his product, make it acceptable to the mainstream and essentially ensures that it sells out every year, which a) makes him money, B) gives him the leverage to secure big name bands and c) ensures the long-term future of the festival. It is what it is...pot luck.

I am absolutely convinced it is easier to buy from the North. I had not a peep down here in the south east, the same for all the other locals I know. For the last few years it is a friend in the North who has sorted me, and I thought last year there were loads more northern accents than normal.

i've got hard core glasto friends in yorkshire who got nothing last year except in the resale, while a friend in kent got mine. this year, those same friends oop north had no joy again, while me and people i know darn sarf did. surely it's all luck.
