Every year I hear people shouting for the mytihcal Alan. How did this begin? Why does it continue?

There has long been shouts at festivals. This is just the latest (and most irritating apparently - I dont care personally!). When I started out festivalling it was simply "BOLLOCKS"!

I don't know about Alan but in Germany they shout Helga. The story is that a German couple were attending a festival and Helga went back to the tent "for a nap". When her bloke came back he couldn't find her so wandered around the campsite shouting her name. Apparently he ended up spotting her falling out of a strangers tent half naked and chased her around the site shouting obscenities. I'm sure that's just a urban legend though.

Usually any festival iv been to iv missed many bands trying to catch that stupid rabbit I'm telling you now if he turns up at kendal he's for it! Squire

I think it used to be 'DAAAAAAAAN!' from Alan Partridge, then it morphed into 'BOLLOCKS!'

I will however be shouting 'BOLLOCKS!' a HUGE amount if I am anywhere near the main stage at noon on Sunday (bloody Hotpots!)

I remember Glastonbury 98 in avalon. It started as bollocks then morphed in to mullet! The only bollocks I heard last year in emperors was the bollocks I was chatting.
