Card Payments now accepted at Bars

Great news for the tent thieves, they can go straight out and use your cards at the bars and other stalls, if they get asked to enter pin they'll just disappear.

I hate it when people at work (a pub) pay by card but that's because we have an ancient card machine. If one of the 4 cats have sat on or knocked the phone off the hook then it doesn't connect. If the phone cable gets knocked out then it wont work. And half the time you plug it in (we rarely use it so don't keep it on) and the damn thing decides to do a half hour update printing off hundreds of receipts. About 6 months ago I was told we were getting a new wireless one and we still haven't!

So I hope these card machines are nice and new. I'm sure there wont be any cows knocking the phone off the line and ruining the connection haha.

Contactless payment only works up to a set amount and then I think its generally every 5th transaction on that card requires the pin. The next time that card is used it still requires a pin (if its in a short space of time at least). Effectively the most you would have taken from your account is 100 quid. Before it stops working. Oh and its all covered by your bank / building society. Its the way forward just need a contactless card or more places to do the NFC.

Not true, you are only covered AFTER you have reported it lost/stolen, they do not have to refund you any losses made before you inform them. They MAY stand those losses as a goodwill gesture but are not obliged to do so, see your t&c's.
