Question about using another persons ticket - I know similar has been asked

Here is the story.

My and my friend were due to go to Glasto this year. We have coach tickets so will need to be on there for it. She has had a personal issue come up and can no longer make it.

My girlfriend would like to take her place and come with me, from what I see if you are switching girls tickets a bit of makeup goes a long way but the problem is that my original friend coming is black and my girlfriend is white, their faces couldn't be any more different.

I read on the Glasto website that all tickets will be handed to the primary booker on the coach (me) so she would no doubt be able to make it on the coach. I'm wondering though what are the chances that she will be able to use the ticket once she is there. My original friend will lend her some photo id and if needs be write a letter explaining the situation - I know these things do not hold up but it may go a way to prove the ticket has not been touted.

What are everyones thoughts here?

Mine are either another black female can come with me on the coach if they source a ticket for a white female (my girlfriend will drive) or me and my girlfriend take the chance and go with the tickets we have.

Either way I am going, I would just like it if she was with me

I had a blonde mohican on my festival ticket, when i arrived at the gate i had long black hair and they still let me in.

The truth is - she may get in, she may not. I don't think anyone on here can say for sure either way. Ultimately it depends on how awake/conscientious the steward she encounters on the gate is at that moment in time which is far too big a variable to make a prediction.

Every year a handful of people will post that they got in on a ticket with a photo that looks nothing like them - and it's true, some of them do. Not every steward checks every photo & matches it against the person to the intended standard. But equally, there are people who are turned away from the gates and I suspect they're less likely to shout about their failure.

I'm not convinced that bringing a letter or whatever will make much difference - by the time that she gets to show it to anyone, she'll have already been passed from the gate steward to a supervisor and as a general rule they're more likely to do things "by the book".

If she wants to increase her chances a bit, then there's a couple things to try. If you can, go through the gate at a busier time - although this is harder to judge when you're tied to coach arrival. The other thing is to try and draw the stewards eyes away from the photo and/or the face - someone in a previous post suggested going through the gate dressed as a Smurf although that's probably going a bit too far.

I think in the end, it has to be a judgement call based on a lot of factors that we don't know - how much time would be lost if she's turned away, how would she get back home. If I was in that situation and lived in say Bristol I'd definitely chance it - but not if I lived in Glasgow.

You could try it and if it fails your girlfriend could inform the steward that she has the worst ever case recorded in this country of idiopathic vitiligo. Then you've just got to hope that they have a sense of humour.
