Trolley help

Definitely this!! Far easier to manage than a trolley, just make sure you get a robust model.

Mine has 4 air filled 'spud' tyres, steerable as well. Load up using bungees, push with one hand, beer in the other; had mine for 7 years, £9 off ebay :)

No lifting, just pushing... which can get difficult in the mud, but everything's a struggle then. I ripped every extra 'bit' from mine just leaving the frame. There was a break lever and cable fitted, which just helped collect the unwanted mud. Took the seat out, and the fairly useless shopping net. A couple of bits of wood across the frame, and it's pretty sturdy.

I found ours in a skip.

oh, and have a bicycle pump handy too. Anyone with a trolley with pneumatic tyres should have one really.

Newbie to Glastonbury this year so just wondering if the lock ups are big enough to store trollies? Took ours to Reading and kept it in the car but I'm guessing it could be some walk back to the car park.

Took delivery of my funky leisure trolley this morning, haven't had chance to open it yet due to being at work but I'll take a few pictures if anyone's interested to get a bit of an idea of it's size.

Got one of these and used for first time last year. It's good, but make sure you spread the weight evenly across the axels. I had all the booze at the front and the front wheel arm had bent down due to the weight by time got to railway track. Fixed once home but couldn't turn on way back!

Depends on the load. As I said on another thread, some people just do lots of bungees vertically but if for some reason the trolley tips laterally (uneven ground) it can all fall out. Putting other bungees horizontally could fix this but when working at other festivals I've see punter's cardboard boxes with cans getting cut by the cord and eventually spilling out. Personally I'd always recommend clingfilm/shrink wrap as a more secure option.

Both, pallet wrap first, then bungees to help secure the cargo from moving around to much. (Depends on how many loose items you have, last year I just had two rucksacks, the tent and and a crate each to start us for the day and was fine with just bungee corders around it all .)

Yeah i usually go for bungees but always end up having to stop as stuff moves about so thinking of going for shrink wrap this year loads will be 3 crates tent sleeping bag and a box at bottom full

Of random other bits n pieces, suppose adding bungees after wouldn't do any harm.

Any ideas where to buy shrink wrap cheap?

I think I've seen some hardware stores selling it quite cheap in rolls but it might not have been the right stuff.

Sleds are also good for transport. They deal with undulating terrain a lot better (if they're the plastic and flexible ones) and sit lower to the ground which is better. The only hassle is reinforcing whatever you use to pull them with. The kids plastic sleds are great, but the cord that comes with them to pull them along always breaks from the brittle plastic. I'd recommend you just get someone at the back to help push them as well, but you can easily get lots of booze on them quite successfully.

I bought this wheeled cooler box a couple of Glastos ago

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MAXCOLD-ISLAND-BREEZE-ROLLER-COOLER/dp/B0038NQWAI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1399479670&sr=8-5&keywords=cooler+box+wheels

One of the wheels came off in the mud first time around but it survived last year with the wheel super glued on tight!

In terms of cooling performance I still had ice left after the 5 days of 2011 and I'm sure the performance would have been just as good in 2013 if one of my dumbass mates hadn't left the lid open in the tent when we were away for the day. *sigh*

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
