How big a group are you going with?

They're very useful if you're off in a large group and need a large space. If its just a couple of tents then you could manage without.

About 5-8 people, but without it we wont arrive till ~2 on the Thursday (GCSE results)

Yeah I would, it got packed pretty quickly even on the Wednesday last year

Depends, if it's just for camping space then no.

If it's to have an extra day of fun at a festival then hell yer

But if you're not gonna be there till Thursday why does it matter?

We always get them, its noce to have the Thursday just to chill rather than deal with travelling set up etc. But if we had time/money to do more festivals I doubt we would do it for all that we went to. as this is the only one, its nice to make a bit more of it.

I've gone early entry since 2007, with varying group sizes. It definitely helps if you want to camp somewhere specific and you've got a big group of you. I've enjoyed it even when there's only been 3 or 4 of us in a group. Means that when you arrive you can camp pretty much where you want - and then on the Thursday you can recover from the first festival night at your own pace - and don't have to worry about carrying your tent and stuff around the site.
