The books about Death or the Wizards are my favourites. Mort is probably my favourite book, and I am very fond of the Last Continent. But they are pretty much all excellent.

Love a bit of the Nac Mac Feegle too!

I don't think the Sky productions particularly did the books justice, even though they had Pratchett's input/blessing, although Going Postal was the better one.

None of them were brilliant IMHO, but Going Postal was better than the first two.

I'm one of those arseholes who always goes "well the book was better than the film", and because I'm tired of being that type of arsehole all the time, I've stopped watching films of books I like.

I've discussed this in another thread, but when you read a book you paint the character in your mind. When you see the film adaptation and see someone else's painting of the character and it jars with your own...that makes watching things hard sometimes. It's why it's sometimes better to watch a film THEN read the book.

I saw the first 2 sky adaptations and was unaware of the 3rd. Hogfather I was more impressed with than The colour of magic, simply because TCOM is so very dear to me, it was my introduction to the world of disc and therefore painted so very vibrantly in my mind. I did not, at any point imagine David Jason or the hobbit that wasn't the pretty one or one of the funny ones.

I totally get the point of view of not watching adaptations, I just keep crossing my fingers and doing so anyway.

I loved stardust, but you are right not to watch it. You'll hate it for all the reasons you state and then it will be a stain on it forever, slightly degrading it.

I read yesterday that Danny Boyle has discussed making Good Omens. Like the books of Terry Pratchett I love the films of Danny Boyle, I don't know how I feel about a film of Good Omens, even if it is DB, for all the reasons you state.
