it's one thing giving a Brit perspective on it, it's very different if schooled in a very different culture.If this had happened in Texas we'd be rolling our eyes and saying 'again' and not be surprised at all.The impression I have of SA is that attitudes towards a criminal in your home are far closer to the USA than the UK.

But have we heard how many shots were fired? just wondering if the same amount of shots ended up in her.

Also if he was so scared why did he go in the bathroom before phoning police, or was it after he realised his girlfriend was not there.

And was this an ensuite bathroom

I don't know the answer to the other questions, but i believe four shots were fired, three of which hit her, one of which was in the head (I'm not sure on the others). The shots were made thru a closed door.

Yeah, it was an en-suite bathroom, but down a short corridor from the main part of the bedroom I think (so not like the common UK en-suite).

I merely argued the point that at whatever point he phoned his lawyer shouldn't be used as anything towards an indication of his guilt.

Someone like that has a lawyer on the payroll anyway ... things would likely to be different to how the likes of I might do it just because of that.

It is true to say that in his bail judgement, the magistrate expressed incredulity that OP had nothing to seek to verify the identity of the alleged intruder or to ascertain the whereabouts of his girlfriend

yep, that's one of the less likely angles to his story as far as I'm concerned, but it's still far from impossible.

It's one of those self confirming things (if his story is true) - cos if he does those things nothing happens and there's not this convo. It only happened because he didn't do those things.

Yep that's why I asked. I assume (Neil note assume) he must have hit het first time, might be a tiny bathroom off course, or just fired rapidly loads of times and just hit her the 3. that's why I asked if anyone had heard

i saw a layout of his bedroom, etc on TV, and presuming it's right she was in a separate toilet cubicle - small, and almost impossible not to hit anyone inside there.

I went to the anniversary games yesterday in the Olympic stadium. Fantastic atmosphere and I hope the likes of peacock,cockcroft, whitehead etc continue to get the expsosure and aren't forgotten by the time we get to RIo. I also cant believe I am saying this but watching the channel 4 coverage back today and it is much better than the stale bbc coverage in the 2 days that preceeded it.
