In all seriousness, I don't believe I ever said that it would definitely be happening. And as far as I remember now, it didn't.

Delving back into my memories, I think I was told that there was a plan a-foot to try to have him DJ in one of the late-night area venues on the Friday night (possibly with Fatboy too, if I'm remembering things correctly).

I know that Thom Yorke did that, and I also know that another of the late-night venues turned away an approach from Thom to DJ for some strange reason.

Ahhh okay no worries, i just remember getting back and coming on here and there was no mention of it!

again, I can't be sure now, but I think I'd said before the festival happened that what was hoped to happen with Bono wasn't going to.

It was one of those things which someone in the late night area was trying to pull together but which didn't get close in the end. There's a similar thing from the year before - which some people still insist almost happened - of (I think it was) Snoop Dogg playing in Shangri-la (but that's not actually the case, as I've had the full story from the guy who had the convos with his management about it).

haha and what happened there then?

The snoop thing?

I can't much remember the details. Shangri-la hoped it could be made to happen, but Snoop's schedule meant it couldn't - but that wasn't known until the day he was performing (on the pyramid or wherever his main booking was for).

The reason that some people think it was going to happen but was cancelled at the last minute is something to do with security in Shangri-la going into lock-down mode in anticipation of Snoop arriving, but I can only guess that's the result of them being primed for it but never told it wasn't happening.

There's no reason why the guy who was trying to make it happen would have under-played it when he told me about it after the festival, so I'm as certain as I ever am about anything that it was never close to happening in reality.

Shangri-la always have various plans for who they want to get from the main stages to play up there. Many of the acts are sorted a while before the festival, but dependent on the act they sometimes can't make their approach until the day.

    • I would be very surprised as well if they are are European Festivals and Werchter isn't one of them. They have done Roskilde before but with big gaps   They have done NOS once and they have done Mad Cool once while playing 3 times at Werchter during the period Mad Cool has ran.
    • Whole thing seems a bit sus to me.
    • wtf. Those Moroccons in Cueta can't just go into EU anyway, they would need to go through further checks before Schengen.
