With Soni cancelled am missing a close to home fest this year and loved Slam Dunk last year - as it's cheap might be the time to get into some new bands. This year seems to have put on a line up that is largely unknown to me - any recommendations? Highlights last year were RBF, LTJ, Goldfinger, Antiflag, King Blues - any recommendations out of this years line up. As Jump says, doesn't seem to much ska, but unless it's early noughties, I'm unlikely to know much about it anyway!

Will prob see Black Out and King Blues.

^ Personally I rate MC Lars, Don Broco, Cancer Bats & Set Your Goals from the line up but they aren't enough to justitfy getting a tix for me. I'm waiting on the ska stage as I always spend most of the day there anyway, hoping for Lightyear in particular.

If you're in the greater London area you may want to try Banquets Big Day Out, it's £15 and they've got Skints (literally one the best UK ska punk bands at the moment!!!) , Neville Staple, Deaf Havana, Kids In Glass Houses and loads of names still to announced if you're looking for a cheap 1 day fest similar to Slam Dunk.

Thanks for the recommendations - will check them out!

Just read that the King Blue have split up - so no Slam Dunk for them by the sounds of it. Bit of a shame, thought they'd honour the dates they'd booked. But they're still trying to cash in a release an album in July!

My wife saw a message on their official Facebook page that Funeral for a Friend are to be added to the line up. Not sure if it's to replace KB or not, but a good addition nonetheless. Must be another announcement soon.

I was a big fan of King Blues since the early days and I even defended them around Save The World time but they just become twats now sadly.

When a bunch of them left a year or 2 ago they wrote down the reasons on the Punktastic forum, it was mostly Itch is dick and had put the others on small salaries and there were complaints about pointless shit but it's been removed now.

What is it with Capdown? I saw them maybe 4ish months ago and they said it was their last gig, which made it the 5th last ever Capdown gig I've been to and now they are back again. Reforms just aren't what they use to be!

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.

    • I don't think I'm alone as a Scotland fan that there is no way that I could possibly fall asleep knowing we're about to play our first World Cup game in 28 years! Pure adrenaline is keeping me wide awake (and plenty of rum)!
    • Trying to stay awake for the footy so it’s just the easy option of a battery😊😉
