Just a general enquiry really...

Why do so many people on here and the Download Festival forums dislike Nickelback so much?

I know they are not everyones cup of tea but cannot deny they would put on an immense show if they headlined.

They're a joke and I can't understand how any serious music fan would take them seriously.

I find them cheesy. Burn it to the ground was decent enough tho.

Firstly, Their songs are formulaic, with copious amounts of pseudo-emotional tension... essentially, x-factor finalist's singles, but with guitars.

Secondly, Chad Kroeger is a pretentious, po-faced prick who takes himself far too seriously, and writes some of the most embarrassing, cringe worthy lyrics I've ever heard in my life.

And lastly, of the post-grunge bands of their era (IE Puddle of Mudd, Trust Company, Saliva, Trapt, Silverchair) They were by far the worst...... and other then Silverchair, the afore mentioned bands weren't that good in my opinion.

...... Judging by their record sales and the fact they sell out massive venues though, it's probably just me.

They are complete cheese but what I've seen of them live on tv and stuff they seem pretty good and I'd know 90% of the songs they'd play and could get drunk enough to have a good sing along.

It's probably because they are utter gash. The worst kind of "music by numbers" there is, cheesy lyrics, the most predictable formulaic songs, and on top of all that Chad kroeger is supposed to be a bell end of the highest calibre.

Apart from that.......
