Terrific stuff from Dean and Britta overcoming even the squirmingly uncomfortable seats. Support and accompaniment from Papercuts, proving that he does exist and that, armed with a compass and a map, he can at least find London even if Dorset is beyond him.

Unsurprisingly excellent. She's back in August, and she already knows the way to Dorset.

Laish (Danny), Flyte and Teleman @ the Lexington, N1

Enjoyable fare to end the year, though the Lex felt a bit less Christmassy than Cargo did (marginally better beer though and excellent sound). Loved Danny's acoustic songs about polar bears, and particularly Flyte's poppy choppy guitar, but could only bear 20 minutes of Teleman, who may be great but vocally irritated the hell out of me (as do Alt-J). Sorry. Irritating chatterers too.

Nathaniel Rateliff @ Portland Arms

Super performance from Nathaniel, supported by trio which really gave a richness to their sound (only seem him acoustic previously) and with a good setlist that covered pretty much all of recent album Falling Faster plus favourites.

Worth catching if near you next week, or apparently back again soon.
