This is the beauty of this festival.....Its that big and allows so many people to visit so it won't sell out. Has it ever sold out? Don't think it has. So there's no rush.

And with flights already top dollar and unlikely to go up by much.......it gives you time to wait for the acts you would like to see. I know that we won't be going unless they bring in some big acts like last year. I'm not paying 200 quid for flights and flying across Europe, 150 quid for ticket + spending money for an 'Atmosphere'.

There are very weak lineups this year across the board at all the festivals. Plan B was announced as a Exit Main Stage Headliner yesterday. That's added to an already mediocre lineup.

Hopefully Sziget don't follow suit and book some great acts instead. With 90% of the lineup still to be revealed, I remain confident.

When you look at what it costs it's a no brainer, almost regardless of these marqee headliners everyone wants. If you want the big names then go to V, Leeds/Reading etc but you won't have half the blast you'll have at Sziget and you'll get your pants pulled down in the process at an overpriced and overcrowded festival with shitty weather.

Seriously, if it all hinges on the "headliners" then you're missing the point I think. Sziget lineups are variable but the one thing that is a constant is that it's an amazing festival in an amazing country.

Quit the grizzling and just get the tickets sorted! You know it makes sense.

It doesn't all hinge on the headliners in all honesty. I went to Benni in 08 and the lineup wasn't the greatest compared to rival fests that year and we had a great time.

It's usually the top 3-4 acts that make or break it music wise for me. Like I said yesterday, I don't usually watch more than 4-5 acts per day. It is too energy consuming and you just end up being knackered by 12am.

It's a holiday first and foremost so it will be great no matter the line up like you said and we will end up going because it sounds amazing. I just want to see some of my favourite bands whilst I'm there. Haven't been to many gigs this year and last due to having a wedding to pay for so I'd like to see these acts all in one place if possible.

Headliners aren't everything but don't tell me that everybody doesn't look forward to hearing them because they do.

if you thought Beni was good then you're in for a treat. we abandoned Beni in favour of Sziget in 2008 and haven't looked back. it's a bit more of an international lineup but that's in it's favour as you get to see acts you'd never even contemplate seeing or discover new ones you'd not even heard of. Plus what is a big band to us (eg Stone Roses) is not necessarily a big band over there so you get to see your heroes up close and personal without getting piss thrown over you.

plus, when it's all over and done with you've got budapest to go and explore while you recover. what a place.

Yeah it does sound amazing. The peeps I know who went last year went to Glasto too and said it even outdid the big G, which is some compliment.

I'm going to see the Roses at Heaton Park on the saturday so I'm not that bothered about watching them twice. Probably will do though if there's nothing else that catches my eye.

I'm not booking just yet though......There is absolutely no point as prices aren't going up on tickets until May 1st and the flights are probably already at a peak price. I'll wait for a couple more announcements before taking the plunge.

I'm think it may be the case that people have too high expectations for the line-up now. I don't know if it's still the same but a year or two ago when they started having to pay for the site (previously it was free) the number of 'big bands' being booked definitely took a hit. I for one wouldn't go to this festival solely based on the line-up (I'd be at Werchter virtually every year if that was all I wanted).

@Ben Holland, judging by one or two of your comments I don't know if this is neccesarily the best choice of festival for you. It is an amazing experience and is very much an 'atmosphere' type fest but if you are primarily concerned with seeing high-profile acts there are better options available.

I remember watching the Horrors support the Arctic Monkeys in 2007/8. They got booed throughout their entire 30-40 min set and hit by numerous 'piss' missiles. I didn't enjoy their set at all but I felt really sorry for them. NOBODY deserves that treatment.

Their material has changed a lot since then and they have quite a following now. I really like their new stuff so I will certainly be watching them. The XX too possibly if there is nobody better on. Not really arsed about them though.

You don't have to go watch LMFAO, they're just one of many acts. At the same time many other acts will be on ;)

Here are a few tips of bands I've either seen before or that I've seen on Youtube:

I've seen Che Sudaka before at Sziget and they made a very good 'mestizo' party (Manu Chao-style), -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7mKAJTg0yg- for my favourite tune by them. Also Los de Abajo was great two years ago, I'm glad they are returning -click here-. :)

This year I'm also really looking forward to seeing Viza, a kind of mixture of System of a Down and Gogol Bordello -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6P1ZX4HTtzs-, as well as Jungle By Night -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGSjxdJhruc-, Katzenjammer -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kbdCDeKSoI- and In Golden Tears -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG8jJWeRbUc-. Not the most well-known acts, but certainly exciting.

    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ‘official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
