Etizolam

Was offered some Etizolam whilst camped on Kidney Mead this year. All the vendor could tell me about it was it was a "Benzo". Not being hot on my drugs/research chemicals I kindly declined the offer (along with Prozac, Valium & the rest).

Anyone used or heard of this before? I usually though it was the standard "Get your breakfast! Pills, ket, coke" etc going round. Oh, & the laughing gas.

I know people on this forum seem sensible to post this here.

Only just posting this as I had forgotten what it was called!

Etizolam (marketed under the brand name Etilaam, Etizola, Sedekopan, Pasaden or Depas) is a thienodiazepine drug which is a benzodiazepine analog. The etizolam molecule differs from most other benzodiazepines in that the benzene ring has been replaced by a thiophene ring.[1] It possesses amnesic, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, hypnotic, sedative and skeletal muscle relaxant properties.

According to Wikipedia.

Benzos are anti-panic medication and many people have a prescription for them for this reason, however they have other side effects: they make you drowsy hence used as sleeping pills and also they are a muscle relaxant so if your back for example is in spasm you could take some benzos before you go to bed and it should improve your back in the morning.

Highly addictive hence not prescribed as much as they were in the 70/80s (mummys little helper they were often called).

If someone is having a bad trip on shrooms or whatever this is the first thing that paramedics would give them, for that reason some people carry them in case any of their friends need them. Additionally they are also taken recreationally in their own right at fairly high doses never done so myself and not really a festival drug imho.

I would avoid them at all costs (unless prescribed them obviously), because of their massively addictive nature

It was many years ago when I was prescribed Prozac and I had heard only very very favourable things about it (apart from a little massacre of course, that was claimed to be down to the killers use of it). I really hoped it was going to be like taking an e every day. And officially prescribed too. Unfortunately it wasn't. :(

Just been reading the local paper and it mentions Prozac and MDMA in an article. It says that altered MDMA has 100 times more cancer busting properties than the recreational drug and could be used in the treatment of leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Birmingham University discovered that half of the cancers of white blood cells they looked at responded to psychotropic drugs such as ecstasy and Prozac.

Interesting article in itself but backs up worthyraver's stance that if you bang enough Prozac down you, you'll go doo lally because it's a psychotropic. Not the kind of experiment I'd like to conduct on myself though.

Prozac is a selective Serotonin reuptake inhibitor. MDMA stimulates the release of Serotonin, so taking prozac can either prolong the high, by reducing the speed which Serotonin is removed from the synapse, or help with the come-down.

As for benzos, they're often taken to help people feel relaxed / fall asleep afterwards.
