Castle Carey is busy from 11am onwards, you have to go through it, don't try to avoid it, there is no way.

I mean you might be lucky and miss a rush, but there's no way to predict it.

If it makes you feel better its not any better driving.

I've only been through Castle Cary once before, and that was at 10am. This option was to pass through at about four-ish, but it sounds like I'd be best off giving it a miss.

Any idea what the buses from Bristol are like then, anyone?

Going to be hitting it about 7/8 in the evening, any idea what its like then?

Got there at 10ish last year and it was grand. Was able to hop in a taxi straight away.

I'm in two minds get there for 12:45 or get there for 3, judging by this it wont make a bit of difference ? better to just get a lie in, only 2 of us going down and don't really care where we camp.

Nonsense. If you plan your route in to avoid the pinchpoints, driving is a walk in the park compared to being herded like cattle on the way in and treated like shit by oity toity railway staff on the way back! I've driven the last two years, maximum queuing time on wednesday 45 minutes. I would never return to the trains

How busy is it on the way back on Monday morning? I've never caught the train before. I'll be prob be heading off site between 9am and 10am, are the shuttle buses regular?

I'm coming down in a car from Leeds and picking a mate up from the Station @ 5pm who is coming up from Cornwall.

He's then transfering to our Camper. What's that going to be like?

Castle Carey gets busy on Wednesday from about 11am onwards. In 2009 I had to wait four hours to get on a bus and I arrived at 1pm. I'm not sure how bad it got last year as I arrived at 10am and was out of there by 11.30am! It would have been quicker if they actually loaded more than one bus at a time!! I travel by train to work every day so I do find it a bit patronising when the staff treat you like you have never caught a train before in your life! Especially on the way back... All in all though I wouldn't fancy the queues to get in/out of the site in a car either and it is better for the environment to come on public transport

It's not a lie that you get herded by cattle.

But I'd rather that than sit in a traffic queue for 5 hours, as I did last year.

At least when you're on a train, or sitting in a fenced off area in a station, you can read a book.

Wish I'd had a parasol last time though.
