Golf Buggies?

Hi All,

As a first timer to Glasto I don't have any experience of people hiring golf buggies and a driver. But wondered if these were available? Has anyone seen/used them?

I should point out, that this is for my mum, who is not as able to walk for ages as she used to be, and might need a lift here and there?!

Thanks all,

Ben

Do you mean as in hire them on site and get transported around or bring one with you/mobility scooter?

For certain there isnt the first option and unless you are booked in with the disabled camping, charging one you bring in wont be possible and in fact I am not even sure if charging is readily available in Disabled camping.

If you are bringing your mum and she has the need to take rests and maybe get pushed around site, I would recommend you pack a wheelchair for her or purchase one of those giant green garden trolleys and pull her around in that.

I've seen one of those bicycle tricycle things that takes passengers but I've only ever seen that late at night on the Railway track.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the response.

I think I read on some of the "glamping sites" that they had buggies that nipped people around. It was Festival Village that told me this, so don't know how reliable that information was.

My mum should be fine, was mainly just thinking about it, if its a long walk from the coach drop off to the Tangering Fields site, especially as we will have luggage.

I'll certainly drop the disabled team an email and see what they say.

Thanks both.

Some of the traders do use them but you need a special permit to use them within the festival site - I do recall latitude has some form of transport arrangement but that is only from A to B they are not allowed in the arena - Glastonbury is far different

the coach drop off point { assuming its a normal coach } is near Gate A Tangerine Fields is near Gate B and its a fair old tramp.

Tangerine Fields has its own car park { you may need to buy a ticket for that } and certainly if I was camping there I would drive.

If I was you I would contact Tangerine Fields as they may have a shuttle between Gate A and Gate B .

Hi Glasto Worker,

Thanks for the response. We had to take the coach ticket as part of the ticket coach bundle in the last re sale, so we are fixed on the coach. Will email tangerine fields and ask them their thoughts.

By fair old tramp - do you mean 30-40 mins? I don't think my mum could manage that with luggage, or me with the luggage even.

Thanks again and am sure we'll get it all sorted.

Take a look at the new map

http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/data/image/map6june11.jpg

you would have to travel from left to right - { so its nearly the width of Glastonbury }

I have been going for years but I have never tried to walk from Gate A to Gate B so any guess would be a guess - sure its not long if it was a straight road ' but its not a straight road ' and not knowing when you intend to arrive its impossible to estimate as if you get there when its busy there is thousands of people lugging gear about.

Sure if you were not carrying anything it would be far quicker but carrying gear is going to slow it well down and if you try it at the wrong time it could be longer than 40 minuets.

I would not even attempt it.

There must be many in your situation so I would be jumping on Tangerine Fields as it would be dead easy for them to lay on a pick up truck at certain specific times just to transport your luggage - in fact I would ditch all the luggage.

this is not my image but you can see there is a lot of people all waiting to get in

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
