Camper Van / Caravan Loan

Guest Gary Thomas

We have bought our camper van ticket based on the fact that we were promised the loan of a caravan .... but the guy has now sold the caravan!

We are struggling to find one for hire so are asking if anyone knows of anyone who may be willing to loan us a caravan or rent us one at a very reasonable price for the week ....

We live in the South Wales area and I know this is a big ask B)

It might be worth giving Kingswood Caravans (just outside Bristol) a call - they had what looked like a scruffy but sound caravan for sale a week or three ago at £250.

At a guess, this is the very worst place to ask -- the Glastonbury questions forum, where anyone reading is likely to be going to Glastonbury, and if they have a campervan, taking it!

Have you considered asking on a different festival's forum?

Being a caravan owner, yeah go me, I would be careful. Cheap vans are cheap because they are old or damp.

Nothing wrong with an old van.

Sleeping in a damp van though is far worse than sleeping in a tent especially for young kids and smokers. The damp can formulate bacterial spores that will get in your lungs and make you feel like shit.

All vans have some damp but a really damp van (you can't actually feel or see it unless you know what to look for) is truly an awful and unhealthy place to be.

Not wanting to put a dampener on it, just saying read about it and be aware first of what to look for. You can also buy a tool that checks for damp levels.

Blimey, that's a scare story n half :O I'm from a family of 8 and between us we've had an assortment of caravans / campervans some with damp, some without. Indeed my current caravan is sporting a considerable issue in one of the back corners, has been for the last 5 years, but I paid £400 for it and had 5 years out of it so can't grumble. None of us have had any ill effects from the damp

you could try A & D caravans (we have booked one through them). They set up onsite for you (not cheap) but saves the hassle of towing a van there. When I last spoke to them they said they had cancellations so might be worth a try... good luck either way.

Hi there,

We have just booked through A & D Caravans, as we were let down by the company we had already booked a campervan through....thankfully A & D had a cancellation, and we got one through them.

Can anyone give me advice of them at all? They seem like very nice people. Are the campervans ok? Did anyone use them last year?

Cheers guys

This is my 1st year using A&D but my friend has been booking through them for the last 4 Glastonburys. As far as I am aware she has never had any issues at all. I don't think the caravans are the latest models or anything but quite comfortable. Ann the lady who runs it sent me these details when I enquired.

Hi a 6 Berth has a double at the front which can be used as 2 singles a bunk bed on the side half way along and another bunk across the back

A 4 Berth has a double at the front which can be used as 2 singles and a bunk bed half way along

Kitchen and bathroom with loo and shower along the opposite side from the bunk half way back

Hope that helps.
