Do they? Did teacher say?

I just don't f**king care. I've tried to have a bash at this macro politics malarky, approaching it from various angles, but I'm a product of my time I'm afraid. Disenfranchised, dissaffected, politically fractured and dissident. It's just a bunch of unrepresentative elites seeking power ties with big businesses in marginally different coloured suits.

I'm interested in ground level politics mind. I'm all for DIY.

PLEASE, just for once will you 2 take it to your room & do it in private?

If you start your usual egotistical willy waving no one stands a chance of actually getting their heads around this whole AV thing.

Give us mere mortals a chance, just for a change?

these are forums for discussing, so i discuss. Just as I am with you now.

If someone wants to show they have a shortage of braincells over this matter, that's an on-topic subject for discussion in this thread.

I'm probably going to vote yes, but even if they yes vote does win, it doesn't mean it'll go ahead right? Also if you vote yes is that also expressing a yes to changing the constituency boundaries and reducing the amount of MPs like Cameron wants? Because I don't agree to that. It'll probably be worded in a way that favours the no vote anyway.

I think I explained my view in another thread but I was against it, then went undecided and have come round based on two ideas.

One was a discussion with my Grandad, his take on it was the tories are oposing it and if its bad for them its good for us.

Secondly I think it will hinder the united right in the country. I think the population is more progressive but the right wing is more organised so they end up in power while the progressive sides aruge amoungst themselves. AV will mean parlement should more reflect his progressiv view.

Also you may enjoy having a look at this website - http://www.voterpower.org.uk/ if you put your postcode in it will tell you how it will change your constuancy ie how much more marginal it will make it...

Is there a problem with that link in the sense it doesn't take into account the future impact of Camoron's gerrymandering? In fact, isn't it somewhat unreasonable to offer people an alternative voting system based on a set of circumstances and then when they've decided change the circumstances?

Thats true hadn't thought about that. Though its good to use to get an idea about what AV will do - ie it wont rewrite parliment just make it a little less predictable.

It allways worries me how much power the governement has over boundries...

Come back when full PR is on the table.

the problems with that idea are these....

Despite Dave Moron banging on about AV being "undemocratic" (despite it being how he got elected tory party leader... hmmmm, strange that ), he's been undemocratic himself by not allowing the electorate to vote on PR. It's for the electorate to decide what the voting system should be, and not for any MP or PM to dictate the choices to them. The tories never will allow a vote on PR, as it will see them out of power forever.

And because AV is likely to be voted down, it will be used as an excuse in the future to say that the electorate has no desire for the voting process to be changed.

While it's all a stitch-up and AV is not my first choice (), I think I'll probably vote for it, as it's probably the only way we'll ever see a vote on PR on the table. ;)

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
