Coach query?

Haven't been to Glasto for many, many years now but managed to get tickets for myself & my daughter this year. :D Went down in the car with friends before but I don't drive & we don't know anyone else going so it's public transport this time. I'm wanting to book coach tickets asap but a bit torn on whether to go with National Express or BPEC. The earliest National Express one arrives at about 11.30am whereas the BPEC one arrives at about 3pm. BPEC is a lot cheaper but I'm wondering if it's worth paying the extra with National Express to get there early for more choice camping wise? Just concerned if we arrive after 3pm it'll be all the crappy spots left.

What do you mean by a "crappy spot"? ;)

I've normally arrived between 12 and 2, the popular fields (EG Pennards, Kidney mead) are just about full around then. It is possible to find a pitch in them, but not easy.

The fields up by the coach stop however seem to be the last to fill up. Easy pitching still being found on the Thursday, even for large tents. They are the furthest away from the 'action'.

But not having to carry everything very far has its appeal.

If you decide to try for a pitch closer to the stages,You're in for a serious trek, there is a lock up just inside the coach entrance (after you get your wrist bands and go through the last gates). It is worth packing so that you can dump your main bag there, then head off with your tent and 'immediate needs' to find a pitch. Then come back for the rest later. I don't know how old your daughter is, but if she is not that old, it would be a plan worth considering. ;)

Hi Hurrah Brother you sound like an experienced Glasto Coach goer if you pardon the expression, I take it there is an entrance near to where you get off the bus?

My group camp on Lime Kiln ( Have done for 5 years so I am in no position to argue :) ... which is also lucky for me as it seems to be the closest on the map to where to coach station is :D

Yep, I resemble that allegation :P

While I know many people who are going, but they are from all over, some from these boards, some from elsewhere, but I do travel down alone, being near enough to Victoria makes going by coach a no brianer. I tend to camp with one of the board organised (or is that disorganised?) camps for waifs and strays!

Back to coaches.

Last year the coach stop moved to right next to the gates (or rather the gate moved to right by the coach drop off point!). Previous years it was quite a lug to the gates. I hope there is no re-arrangements this year. <_<

I hope that helps, and no doubt see you at the cider bus (I'm always running into people there! only sometimes it's planned!)

I've tried the coach 4 years back. Coming in was fine, although 2pm wednesday arrival meant that we were hearded from gate A (John peel stage side) to available camping at dairy fields on other side of site. Was looking packed overlooking the pyramid other prime spots at and big ground/pennards. But diary field fine for other stage and late night stuff, so its swings and roundabouts

Coming home was not good.. unorganised queuing, although we did find our coach eventually

may be better these days

did anyone go to the last hop farm festival or any other festival ans using the green coach baack home? cause i saw the time of the return coach(to london): which is 11.30 pm.which is early

i really want to see the complete set of the one last on the bill-, mozzer but ive got surely no chance to catch the coach when it departs that early

do you know if the bus waits a bit for all passengers arriving at the bus or getting informed if the last act plays longer due to circumstances like the acts beforhand played longer?

fo those who wen to hop farm:

I wont be in the first row but likely to be pretty much on the front and i dont know how big the distances from the concert area to the coach pick up point is?

and of course the amount of masses leaving can stop on in its tracks well---

:does anyone know that and also remember the time when the last act ended his/her set in 2010 or before?11pm or 11.30 pm?

its pretty urgent...

or if you didnt went to hop farm what about your experiences using the coach back home from other festivals(cause i see the company green travel serves more festivals)

thanks

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
