This year's hatred for MCR is different from Arcade Fire last year. for a start nobody 'hated' them really. People were just baffled as to how 'they managed to get the headline spot' So the hatred for MCR is totally different. I'm also in the large group of people that severely dislike MCR but if they do headline, I just wont watch them. End of.

My views on this if there were not headlining then they wouldnt be bottled, i think the problem is them headlining part many just disagree with what could happen then there would be people who are anoyed and will bottle them for a sake of being anoyed.

The differnce bettween Arcade Fire and MCR is that AF were not anywhere else in the country, if they had been 3rd from top at T then they had no right to headline Leeds. Its the same with MCR, there not big enough to headline T but are Leeds? T is music for the masses! and Leeds mainly Alternative and Rock so in my honest opinion Leeds is a bigger 'ROCK' Festival and in which case MCR are not big enough to headline!

I reckon they have less chance (although I still reckon they will) of being bottled as headliner than say subbing. As unlike Download it's less of a heavy crowd who would go out of their way and if they were subbing than people would be waiting for the headliner but if they're put on as headliner then the people there would be there to see them as I'd imagine most people would just see someone else especially if it's up against strong headliners on NME, Dance & FR.

Can't remember but did Razorlight get bottled (may of been the odd 1 or 2) a few years back when they headlined or any headliner for that matter?

I think that's sort of the argument for the other side as well - T is music for the masses and Blink and MCR aren't popular with the masses enough to headline, but R&L may be slightly more rock/alternative and will have more Blink and MCR fans and therefore they can headline R&L.

I think you've got it right. At the end of the day for the organisers, it's about selling tickets, so a line up designed to suit to the type fans that attend will always shift tickets. I think R+L have moved on from MCR IMO.

I haven't seen a good bottling at Reading for a while now. Last year I was only saw the Futureheads bark throwing incient & that wasn't even at the band, who were great. Before that perhaps the brilliant 2ltr bottle to the face of Brendon Urie. Can't remember any others.

EDIT - Oh, & Fightstar '05 even though they seemed alright. Fill me in if they have been any others! Aidan?

The last bottling I can remember was Bring Me The Horizon in 08 as they were shifted on the mainstage to make up for Slipknot & Avenge Sevenfold pulling out in the last minute, it was shit though barely anyone actually hit them. Maybe Mindless Self Indulgence too but it was probably next to nothing apart from the odd bottle.

I agree with that point completly, I loved Blink182 last year and the build up and the type of bands that played underneath were all suited. From Limp Bizkit upwards was brilliant, Weezer Paramore and Blink182 to top it off.

Same for G'N'R, Biffy and QOTSA, but who on earth would suit MCR? Good Charlote? It would be such a depessing day. They would need to have some good bands undernath to even make the main stage sound medioca anyways!

Who would Sub and be on the same day?
