Yes a real thank you to ME & EE. Glasto is a unique & marvellous event.

I stopped going to festivals for about 30 years while having children. In early 2000 I gave my daughter a lift to the site on the Friday morning. After dropping her off I went up the hill to view the site and really felt envious but also too old for such an event. But a few years later she pursuaded me to come along and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Have been several times since (with wife and all 3 children + partners), always really enjoyed with no problem of being ancient.

Hope EE can keep it going for many years.

How could you convey what is one of the best parties in the world to some one that hasn't been?

dancing, listening, eating, big stage, smiling, bantering, meeting, missing, resting, fireworks, new bands, live music, warm tents, Pyramid stage, dry tents, sleeping bags, open fires, laughing, chat to strangers, strange chat, weird and wonderful, old bands, drinking, flamboyant, costumes, sounds carried by the wind, great bands, meetings lost, meetings made, talking, new friends, old friends, watching, Beer tents, bad bands, small stage, banging toilet doors, smells - mostly good, astounding, awe inspiring, stone circle, sunrise, sun set, cheering, grinning.

Yep, I know some people will find it easy to add negative descriptions to the above, but why bother ?

Rather brilliant docu-clip here. Fact is: The Eavo, over the years, has fought tooth and nail to keep the festival going. His inspiration was when he and (the late) Jean attended the Bath & West Folk festival, or something and thought: how brilliant would a festival be, here at Glastonbury..?

My first festival was Strawberry Fayre in Cambridge when I was fourteen. I felt a similar..awakening. Pretty sure my life would've been infinitely more banal without The Eavo and his magic summer garden party.

Also, it deserves a mention: Nobody else in the world appears to have the same fascination and obsession with festivals, as do the British. We are surely the World Leaders (at something, at least ). Remnants of our Pagan/Celtic/Free-spirit heritage, I'm sure.

Of course, The Eavo deserves a knighthood (Karen bloody Millen's got one) for services to Stoners, over the years.
