motor home for the first time

i have been twice before but both times i was camping. This time i am very fortunate to have a motor home to hand. I am also taking my 10 year old daughter with me.

does anyone have a kit list for when you are NOT camping? obviously i can take more things as im not carrying them also can i still go down tuesday night? is the blue route clearly marked? or will i have to put in a different post code in my sat nav or something?

Hi

Have never done motor home thing but would really like to.My Cousin does it every year and he said they let him on to the field on the tuesday afternoon and he was all set up by teatime.

i cant wait. ill have a loo and a real bed and a cooker lol. the small things.

obviously ill be taking chairs this time and more booze and food but im not sure of what food. to keep my battery in good working order ill have to start my engine in the morning every morning. will this be a problem?

we manage ok for a ticket, but we go about it in the usual military manner in which we got the festival tickets!

also, we don't usually turn our van over, but others do in the fields, so I think it's up to you as to what you feel your van needs. We ignore it and if it doesn't work on departure we would ask for a jump, but touch wood it's been ok and its 19 years old...

There are plenty of signs for the festival from quite a few miles away and these are better than satnav as some roads are closed for the event.

Take plenty of water containers and fill these up as soon as you can as the water supply to the campervan fields can be spasmodic or have long queues. I also take 5ltr bottles for drinking at the van and small bottles of water to carry into the festival as it is expensive on site.

Also don't forget the lockups on site for leaving items you need but don't need to carry round all day (warm clothes for nighttime, shopping etc)to minimise the need to return to the van.

If you can get one, a solar panel is good for charging the van battery without having to keep running the engine.

In my first day back in work tiredness this thread looked like “Motorboated for the first time” at a glance.

Campervanned my first 3 Glastos, wouldn’t do it again. If you get stung in the back camper park you’re a huge walk away from the site. I did a walk from the camper to the gate beside the Peel tent and back one year, not pleasant. Not pleasant at all.
