Grime/urban acts in the 'dance' village

So this year saw probably the worst dance music line-up for a long time at Glastonbury. Sasha and Dubfire were a couple of the sparse highlights (as well as some stuff in the late night areas), but even Dubfire's set was cut ludicrously short when they shut him down because all the previous DJs had over-run. Bit of a farce really.

The biggest affront to dance fans though was surely Dance East (esp Saturday). Did anyone visit/wander past whilst all the grime/urban acts were doing their thing? Was the tent busy?

I'm praying to god it was an abject failure and lessons will be learned for 2011 (although I wont be holding my breath).

Why even bother expanding the area to create a dance 'village' if all your going to put on in 90% of the slots is utter balls? Whoever books the DV needs a massive kick up the arse tbh.

*Awaits all the old fogies of efests to come in complaining that it's not real music anyway and we should all be weaving our own clothes, wearing felt hats and listening to nu-folk

I'm afraid the lessons that will be learned are that it was pretty popular - packed for ndubz anyway, and pretty busy for most of the day.

Our 17 year old was persuaded for the first time that glastonbury could be worth a visit by the bill in Dance East last year.

It may not be your cup of tea but there are plenty of people that like it. Dance Village alone is as big as Creamfields or Global Gathering and there are plenty of other areas with dance music going on.I don't get why it's a problem if one tent has grime and stuff. It is a sound that will attract a young audience so that's a good thing imo.

The problem is that it's a full day with basically no dance music, in the second biggest tent in the dance village.

I suppose it doesn't really matter as it would have only been filled with commercial nu-indie/electro nonsense anyway.

Was just wondering if it went down well, clearly it did.
