yep, from what I've just read that's right - cos Loog had covered a Stones song in which the sample that the Verve used was created, it was Jagger & Richards that got the royalties and not Loog, despite the actual bit being his creation.

Well I'm glad Mick and Keith screwed him out of the money though, I mean they need all they can get.

from what I've just read it wasn't them, but the guy who holds the publishing rights to those songs. But I'm sure Jagger would have driven it otherwise, he's a man who thinks he deserves every penny he's earned - as well as the ones he's not earned.

Nah - the publishing for Bitter Sweet Symphony went to Allen Klein's ABKCO Records, who still own the rights to the Stones 60s catalogue.

Jagger's propensity for touring and chiselling every last cent he can out of anyone only really emerged after he signed away the rights to the Stones most musically productive decade to a con man.

Though 'The Last Time' as a song is, shall we say, heavily inspired by The Staples Singers.

Strokes were incredible at IOW, they'll be even better at Glasto.

The bookers were confident enough to give The Strokes two headline festivals this year , and thats without a new album.

And from what I saw at IOW they went down well !

So yes they would be big enough to headline The Pyramid ! , not everyones choice but hey !

Are the strokes atm bigger than bands like Franz Ferdinand, bloc party? flaming lips?

Plus everyone knows Bittersweet Symphony (Although there was a period when i thought I thought it was Oasis ) also was that the year they thought it might not sell out? or the year after was

Don't get me wrong I'd take the strokes on the Pyramid, would be there at the front, I'd just rather see them at night in a headline position

i don't know whether or not to buy a ticket for the Foo's at MK Bowl as im not sure if Biffy Clyro or Foo fighters will be at glasto

I'd love it if The Strokes played, I think I'd miss most bands to see their set. I've already seen them twice, once being excellent and once being a bit dodgy (mainly due to sound issues), but I'm sure they'd put on a good set at Glasto.

very little, titp/reading will suit them better, who'd very possibly give them headlining slots (co-headline minimum)
