Anyone got the new album? What are your thoughts? I've only had a couple of listens and it's definitely not as good as the first.

I would say there is a good chance of them being at glasto, or do you think due to the fact that cave and the bad seeds got the rudest, most ignorant crowd I have ever seen in 2009 means nick will tell them to go f**k themselves? IF they did play, what are the chances of nick cave doing a sneaky solo set somewhere. Acoustic or piano set in the queens head or something. Can you imagine??

Also, did I dream it or were they second top on the pyramid in the 90s too? Can anyone remember who played after them?

1998 - Bob Dylan first then Pulp.

1994 (the best one) - Galliano before them followed by Paul Weller, and Elvis Costello but Bjork and Orbital were on the NME Stage (much better choice IMHO)

1994 was the year when oasis, pulp, radiohead and blur all played virtually in a row wasnt it?

God the 90s were good (when viewed through these rose tinted spectacles)

I'd very much doubt if Grinderman played. They're less popular than Nick Cave, and would struggle to attract a decent crowd. I don't think they're mainstream enough to play Glastonbury.

But more thread-relevant, I really need to get this album, heard some praise over it. Gonna buy it on payday most likely.

I love the new album, I think its better than the first. They totally rocked out Hammersmith Appllo when I saw them last Friday. Great stuff.

I think if they did play Glastonbury it would have to be in a tent as this sort of music is not designed for daylight. I think this effected Nick Cave and the bad seed's set last Glastonbury too, and the hoardes of bored Blur fans just stood there waiting.

If there is one critisism I have of the best music fest in the world is that I don't think they have enough Rock music at Glasto,

It seems to be treated like some kind of unwelcome disease there. I really enjoyed Slash's set this year, but that was about it for that sort of thing. Shame really.

Yup all on Sunday NME - Credit To The Nation, Chumbawamba, and Inspiral Carpets split 'em, that year also had RATM before the Levellers, and Dreadzone were the first act on the Pyramid.

Beastie Boys, Tool, L7, Harry Hill, Kangaroo Moon, Show Of Hands, Bates Motel, FOS Brothers, Sean Lock (when he was funny), Cheapsuit Oroonies, Back To The Planet, Nik Turner's Space Ritual 94, and cosmic Charlies (playing Bristol at the end of this month) also played. And Leningrad Cowboys Go America and Baraka was on in the cinema field, and Napphtaline closed the show in the Theatre Feild - with their weird trolls, which reminds me every bridge had a man selling shrooms.

1994 was on of the best Glastonbury's for me with 2000, and 2010 also up there.

spot on. I was absolutely sickened by the crowds reaction to the bad seeds set, and what an amazing set it was! They should have headlined the john peel tent. That would have been ace.

Cave being accused of plagiarism this week

Why would Cave need to steal an idea from somebody? Clearly a coincidence, However the two songs are very alike!

The songs are very similar but I very much doubt The Nick will have even heard of that band, let along copied them. The song is very simple, A, E and B chords, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to add 'oohs' in harmony with the chords. It's probably a very big coincidence.

The new Grinderman album is the bollocks, I especially love 'Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Men'. They'd go down a treat at Glasto, perhaps fairly late on the Park stage, saw The Bad Seeds in open at Latitude 2009 and it was breath-taking, so Nick Cave definitely can work in open air, perhaps not so well when it's light. Bring 'em on I say!
