That's where I live (in Pilton, not in Pilton). Assuming the wife and kids don't drown, it can rain as much as it likes on my Pilton on Glastonbury weekend.

I'm searching for positives.

  • GFS is unreliable. We only use it because it's long range and it's free. We shouldn't trust it when it's bad and we shouldn't trust it when it's good.
  • Meteo is a pretty dry forecast.
  • ECM and a few others will be predicting the start of the festival on Monday so don't sweat until then.

This is my first post - I feel that strongly about NFRNFC!!

Can't wait, have been 09 and 10 and have had so much fun - last year was so brutal but as everyone said, do a few simple things and it's bearable!! Have never been when it's been massively raining as I can't remember 09 being that bad - the mud dried up dead quickly!!

I'm not hoping for even a drop of rain (or a cloud for that matter as that's where rain hides) as my best friend is coming with me for the first time - we used to go to Benicassim as it was practically guaranteed sunshine (although i've experienced more rain at Beni than i have at Glasto :D ). She used to say "why would i ever go to Glasto and get rained on when i've got Beni" - i agreed until the first time I went to Glasto - ever since I have been begging her to come and experience it with me and this year she relented!!! We're so prepared for sun (and r**n if needs be) and I just know that this is one to remember

Come on the sun!!! Do another big solar flare thing and let's scorch like last year B)B)B)

Michael Eavis is actually a crafty old bugger who hosts the festival on what is, statistically, usually one of the best weekends of the year. The festival being 5 days means that simple maths means you may occasionally get a drop or two and it is quite rare to get too much more. Whether it has been one of the driest springs on record or one of the wettest I find that this thread will continue to worry all the way to the day, at which point the weather will make it's own mind up regardless. Despite this I still rely strongly on shear force of will.

This might sound quite odd mate but I think I got the coach with you from Birmz last year and will be getting it with you this year?

I just recognized the name Dan Eazy, do you know Sarah Hizzle and that lot?

This was Met O long range forecast on this date last year for comparison purposes, if anyone's interested:

UK Outlook for Wednesday 16 Jun 2010 to Friday 25 Jun 2010

Generally dry for most parts with variable cloud and some sunny periods, although there is a low risk of some showery rain spreading into southern England at first. There is also a risk of rain affecting northern Scotland for a time. Generally settled conditions are expected to last over the weekend for many places, particularly southwestern areas. However, occasional light rain or showers may affect northern and eastern parts of the UK. Throughout the rest of the period, rain or showers may spread to more areas of the UK, although there will still be some sunshine. Mostly light winds may become stronger around exposed northern parts at times. Temperatures should be near normal, but slightly warmer in southern regions.

No sign of unbroken sunshine or very high temperatures then either, there's still time :D

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
