Brace yourelves folks. the latest Met Office update is far from good ...

UK Outlook for Wednesday 15 Jun 2011 to Friday 24 Jun 2011:

The period will start with cloudy and wet weather in the south and west of the country, moving northeast to reach most parts by Thursday, although the rain should be lighter by this stage. Becoming showery in the west on Thursday with a few sunny spells. Moderate winds in most areas but strong in the west, and temperatures on the cool side, but nearer normal in the east. The end of the week and the weekend will see a few periods of drier and brighter weather but often unsettled spells with more showers or rain, perhaps prolonged rain the west on Sunday. Continuing risk of strong winds in the west, and temperatures remaining cool. Staying unsettled for the rest of the period, possibly drier and slightly warmer in the southeast.

My weather app (WeatherPro, made by the MeteoGroup) is predicting about two centimetres of rain in Pilton over the weekend. This is worrying me slightly - there's been far too much talk of "softening the ground". All this means the odd sh***r at Glastonbury could be disastrous

I'm losing faith here :(

It's not 2 cm of rain this coming weekend in Pilton that would bother me so much as the absence of warm weather (in current forecasts) for the following week, to dry it out. Instead, we'll most likely get a fair bit more rain/showers on and off in the coming week starting the 13th. A wettish pre festival week is not good .... as any vets who might remember 1997 will know (mudbath, yet with very little rain in the festival period itself, but the damage had already been done).

TBF though, the rain in 1997 was a lot heavier and more persistemt than currently shown. So far!

    • I'm just back from Primavera. A present from my wife for my BIG birthday. She presented it to me at the airport. I was expecting a week on a beach so was very pleasantly surprised. We stayed an extra few nights in the city to make a holiday of it.   Despite the rain on the first night literally making it a wash out, the rest of the festival was superb. Addison Rae was great, The Cure were the best I've ever seen them, The XX were the absolute stars (along with Gorillaz) and Pinkpantheress is surely going to be massive any day now. Sadly couldn't get anywhere near for Olivia Rodrigo's surprise set.   Sadly, very sadly in fact, Skrillex was about as enjoyable as a trip to the dentist. We lasted 30 minutes, and half of that was us pushing our way through the crowd to leave. I'm clearly not the target audience, but normally I can find some kind of redeeming feature in any kind of music. With Skrillex it just feels like someone's told a joke and everyone's laughing except me.
    • We’re heading down to Glastonbury hopefully next week so I’ll pack a peg😊
    • Absolutely loving the new one from Kurt Vile...been trying to decide on the new DCFC one since it came out. Not fully doing it for me yet though...
    • refunds for the city shows starting to appear, got 2 out of 6 pending on my card
