Thats good to know but why (and not that I want to encourage any over zealous policing) the slackness nowadays whereas pre2000 there seemed like roadblocks on every corner even on the A303 many miles away. Is it really a case of using the festival as some kind of nice friendly police advertising campaign?

Yes, I would hate to live under the Stasi as well, though ANPR is a good step down that route, and so would be real-time access to anyone's mobile phone location. Let's hope technology doesn't move on too much eh?

Apparently our campsite neighbours aroused the suspicion of the police, had no time to hide any of their stuff so one of them stood on some. When the police realised and asked him to move, I heard that they threatened to eject all of them unless the surrendered everything they had. If they felt that anything was being held back they'd still eject them all. I'm not sure if they managed to keep any but they managed to stay on site.
