Absolutely spot on here matey.

I'm gutted Murray didn't win, but if he is to be knocked out, then I suppose it's a good thing that we got to see a pretty impressive Nadal display.

All this 'Murray hates the English' bullshit is incredibly tiresome now, especially when it was a tongue-in-cheek remark made over 4 years ago. I'd much rather gauge my opinion of him based on what he does on court.

He's not in the same league as Nadal or Fed at the moment, but he's still more than capable of winning a Grand Slam.

I really hope he does.

Everyone keeps saying its tongue in cheek remarks etc,,, Its all besides the point... He is SCOTTISH... I am ENGLISH... I don't see why I should support him or like him anymore than Nadal and Fed who are superior and better players to watch....

It was a joy to watch Nadal play yesterday.... and its mouth watering thinking he was playing at half of his total ability...

Read the papers this morning and one said it was a heros performance... He get beat in straight sets.... Its was a total failure :D

I am British. He is British. That's partly why I want him to win. I also want him to win because he's a f**king good player, and it's good to see someone other than Nadal or Federer (both of whom I enjoy watching) get the plaudits.

Out of interest - did you want (for example) Chris Hoy or Colin Jackson to win in the Olympics, or didn't that matter to you either?

He get beat in straight sets.... /quote]

The points count was around 97 to 91 - it was a tiny margin of difference between them on crucial points. Still, at least we have another subject you know f*ck all about

Langdale, as ever, said exactly what I wanted to say. I really enjoy watching Murray as he seems to me like a creative player and he's passionate which is no bad thing. Mentally he's not quite there I don't think, but he's definitely capable of winning a slam. All the "anti-English" talk is f**king laughble.

I suppose you would like to see a Team GB Football team replace our nation Football teams :) No of course you wouldn't...

Why the hell wouldn't I?! How would it be any different to cheering on Britain at the Olympics?

I'd have no problems whatsoever in merging England, Scotland and Wales together for football. I don't think the Scots or the Welsh feel the same as I do, but I'd be for it.

Double post.

And also, Langdale once offered to facilitate me in a lay-by somewhere in the midlands (you know, doesn't matter where it was, its all the same round there - few million people, three surnames, you get the picture). I almost wish I'd gone for it due to the relentless pestering that followed. I've been sucked off by worse, but then again that was the end of the night in a badly lit nightclub.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
