Pardew has said he's had a load of texts from other managers saying he's nuts going to newc. So I reckon Ashley didn't really have many options open to him.

It depends what your measure of success is.

If it's trophies above all else then he's right, but that 'trophies above all else' comes with its own costs, such as the unsporting gamesmanship that it sometimes takes for Utd to get those results. They've sold their souls for trophies.

If success is measured by consistency, then it can easily and rightly be said that Arsenal are beating Utd. If success is measured by not buying trophies, then Arsenal win hands down. Etc, etc, etc.

Evra is only speaking truth for those with no concept of real sport. Sport is not about winning.

arsenal aren't whiter than white either. they can cheat and put in nasty challenges and be unsporting just like everyone else.

I'm picking the definition of sport that creates the situation where Utd are able to win things in the first place. If winning was everything then there's no point in 94 teams taking any part in football whatsoever.

And yes, Arsenal can be 'as bad as everyone else' in how they play football. But to get up a level to be winners takes a little extra at times, that from one angle can be described as a deliberate decision to cheat.

It's no coincidence that since Drogba's sniper has been served with a restraining order they've stopped winning things.

i'm picking the definition that about 99% of the footballing world picks. hows there no point in 94 teams taking part? the premiership isn't the be all and end all. regarding what evra is talking about, it is. but league one is worth winning for those down there. as is any other match that takes place between two teams at any given time.

a year or two after i left primary school, they made football 'uncompetitive' and just for fun. i bet it was people like you that introduced that. i wouldn't have wanted a primary school where the school team didn't play to win.
