+1 (any anyone else in my group I can drag along)

A couple of ideas:

How will you identify if all the people at the chosen location are there for the flash mob so that you know you're good to go? How about some sort of sign along the lines of everyone wearing a pink carnation?

Obviously carnations are not in ready supply at Glastonbury, but I do have a possible solution to this (bear with me here, I'm about to go on a wild flight of fancy). Last year I built a geodesic dome for Glastonbury (to use in the way most people use Gazebos) and used a old army parachute as a skin for it. This turned out to not be very waterproof so this year I've made a new skin out of high vis yellow and high vis orange material. On account of me being very poor at maths I ordered about 4 times the quantity of material I required. If you like we could cut a load of this material into strips about 2" x 24" and distribute it to all the prospective flashmobers to wear as headbands.

We could hand these out on the Wednesday from my dome which will be located in Park Home Ground, and perhaps send a load over to to hand out there, or any other distribution points around the site ahead of a flashmob on the Thursday.

To take things a step further we could get a bit theatrical and choreograph the flash mob so that the whole mob get's in a line in front of your girlfriend, then each in turn walk up to her, goes down on one knee and offers her their headband, then you stealthily latch onto the end of the line and go down on one knee and offer her the ring. This has a bit of symbolic feel to it with a line of potential suitors offering her their ring shaped head bands and in the end she accepts your offering (perhaps).

Short version: I have loads of high vis material that you could use as props

I love the high vis idea! It will make for a more visual impact for the people filming for the documentary. Although, do you think it's manageable/organisable!? I'm thinking I should have posted this idea much longer ago!?

+2 Whatever you do keep it simple, one meet only, one simple signal, and one simple thing to shout out.

I, like most people, am rubbish at remembering things. I, like most people, am quite lazy when it comes down to it. I think the simpler the instructions, the more successful your flash mob will be.

Good luck!

Cutting up a couple of hundred won't take long, the difficulty would be in distributing them to the right people who would then turn up at the right time and place.

I think possibly picking a time and place should be top of your agenda, daylight would be best for recording the moment and for the visual impact of the high vis. What about handing out the high vis after the football and then getting everyone to head for a destination?

Where do people think would be best to do this that's central but has enough space? She loves the park stage, would near the park tower be suitable? I could then pretend there was going to be some secret gig to make it unobvious why we were heading there...?

any ideas welcome

oh and im 99.9% sure she will say yes.

Yep, half time at the footy, the less she likes footy the less suspicious she will be. You may even get a cryptic message up on the big screens getting 100,000 people to shout her name and then the beeb cameras right on her.

Very good point. Simplicity is vital you are right.

I'm no twitter expert. Anyone know if it could be used to direct people here to this thread that will be going to glasto? Doesn't Emily Eavis post a lot on there?? I can't use facebook to get the word out either as she will see any group i've set up/joined etc... Any little helpers got a few spare moments to help!?

the best and easiest thing to do would be to get a klaxon/airhorn whatever they are called. as long as you tell everyone to where and when to be, even with say a half hour time frame, all you need to do is:

you: "darling, will you..."

(massive air horn phaaarp)

us lot "MARRY ME!!!!"

all we have to do is be in the general area at the right time, and there's no way we could miss it.

I would suggest either the Cider Bus or the big (and only) tree in the Pyramid field up on the hill about half hour after the footy.

That way whoever is watching the football can easily get to both spots and there should be plenty of room.

Just let me know when and where.
