peak times for entry

what time roughly is the peak time? trying to avoid it this year. Last year wasn't too bad but got there at like 7ish on the thursday.

i reckon the peak time is going to be Wednesday morning, probably between 10am - 2pm... with the England game kicking off at 3pm alot of people will want to be onsite and sorted

As soon as the gates open there will be a huge surge of people wanting to get in, after that it's usually a steady flow ... the best time to come would be at night, but then you're not guarenteed a decent spec for your tent.

If you want to avoid peak time, I'd aim to arrive on Wednesday between 3pm and 5pm (when a football match is on the telly). That's what I'm aiming to travel.

You would be able to drive straight in, and there would be no queue at the gates at that time.

hmm i beg to differ with that - we usually leave London at 6am and there's heavy traffic and queues to get in.

don't usually arrive on site until 2pm-ish.

we're gonna try to leave at 5am this year.

We're planning on arriving around 8am Thursday.

Leaving in the middle of the night from Liverpool.

Hopefully we'll just drive in but who knows !

Thanks for your replies, the alternative would be to leave London after work on the Thursday but I reckon that will be more of a pain in the arse, any ideas?!

Dreading the drive this year and we're only in Bristol. Took us 12 hours last year. We're aiming to get there for the footy on the Wednesday too, so I guess we will be stuck in a queue again. Last year the roads were all clear on the Thursday, so maybe it might be easier to travel down on Thursday this year. Who knows?! We were completely gobsmacked at how long it took last year, we even missed one of our work shifts completely we were so late.

Anyway, goodluck to everyone, we all get there eventually.

We've arrived 7-8am ish from Leeds on Thursday for the past 3 years set off 11pm ish and take it easy, with a coffee and a breakfast stop.

Roads are clear all the way into the car park and we've never been searched or even stopped coming in.

Really? On a Friday morning? Maybe a few years back there was heavy traffic, but most people arrive Wednesday and Thursday. 2008 I went straight in with no hassle Friday morning.

This year, icedgems and I will be leaving Brizzle at around 2.30/3am ish on Wednesday morning, hopefully in the car park by 4.30am. Couple of hours kip and then to PGD intime for the gates opening at 8am. As Mr Eavis is opening the carparks early, I thought it would be rude not to see how it all goes

I'd ask them to take your tent and put it up for you. You can just promise them a case of beer or something as a reward. If you leave on the Thursday asfter work, you'll not get in until about 1 in the morning. This is a great plan. A few extra hours partying. Do this....

Leaving at 4AM from West Sussex and will hopefully be there by 8ish! I have never arrived on a Wednesday before so I am extra excited this year.
