I remember after last year there were two things that divided this forum. You can kinda skip back in time by clicking /index.php?showforum=22&prune_day=100&sort_by=Z-A&sort_key=last_post&topicfilter=all&st=5210">here.

Flags. Bigger than ever before. Big problem on the main stages where anyone further than 50% back in the crowd would be forced to watch the monitors. Big problems for TV coverage too. Some people here were okay with them. Others wanted them banned. So are you taking one this year?

Chairs. Those camp chairs are so cheap and light that a lot of people carry them around. Great to sit in when there's mud but bad in crowds for gigs and bad when someone's carrying one and it bashes into you.

Personally, I'd rather see less or smaller flags. But they add some atmosphere. As for seats, I'll probably take one out if it's muddy but I'll try and hang further back.

I'm in flags are for campsite not in front of stage group and will be taking a chair with me for the first time this year as I'm getting on in years and since breaking and dislocating my ankle struggle when on my feet for too long.

I promise to use my chair sensibly and will not be sitting down in crowds in front of stages! :P

I definatley couldn't be arsed with carrying a flag round all day, but if others want to do it then I don't have any problems with it, doesn't bother me, if its a band I really want to see I'll go near the front to get a good view anyway and if its a band I don't really care about I'll hang round at the back and watch the monitors as you usually can't see much going on the stage from that far back anyway.

As for chairs, if you didn't bother taking your whole life round with you in your day-rucksack like so many people do at Glasto you wouldn't need a chair! I simply go round with wallet in pocket, T-Shirt and shorts, don't need anything more than that, there's plenty of bars around to get plenty of drink, much better than hauling a crate of beer round all day killing your legs just to save yourself £30.

Flags are for the campsites imo. For locating mates then a pigeon on a stick or something unobtrusive is called for at the stages. Wouldn't like to see them all go though. Ok, ok, I want the moon on a stick..

Chairs again are fine most of the time. After dark anywhere forward of the mixing desks (at Pyramid say) and they are a right pain. I've lost count of the times I have nudged my nadges on them and they block the way into and out of the front. You've popped to the loo and are rushing back to your mates for the next set and all of a sudden - 176 chairs in a row with no gaps, gahhh.

Just a little thought and consideration needed really rather than banning things.

Flags are great - however, I've decided to really pay attention this year to see if I can understand what all the flag hating is about. Not bringing one myself though.

Will be bringing a chair for the campsite, not hauling it to any stages though - it bothered me quite a bit there being hundreds upon hundreds of people just sat in chairs right at the front of the pyramid stage during Nick Cave's set, just waiting for Blur I'd imagine. Don't understand why so many people do that.

Flags are a no-no for the stages - you can't see anytihng, and when the screens are only showing more flags cos that's all the cameras can see you know there's a problem.

Me and the other half take chairs with us as she has knee problems and needs to rest up, but we always keep further back. To take one to the front of the stage is taking the piss.
