Scottish Notes

With this being my first trip to Glasto, was just interested to know if Scottish Bank notes are accepted by stalls, bars etc?

Having had issues whilst on business trips to London with Scottish notes (legal tender btw! ;) ), I was just wanting to give myself notice to get English ones instead.

Any advice much appreciated!

I'd assume not. You're right, they're legal tender, but the further south you go the less likely anyone is to accept them. Get your cash changed (or take it out from a cashpoint somewhere past Nottingham) before you get on site, and save yourself the worry.

I once had an american guy ask me if we had TV's in Scotland. I explained to him that we all live in caves and shag sheep so didnt have time for TV.

god knows why the put bettys face on their notes, she is pure hack anyway.

I had an arguement in WH Smith in Heathrow as they wouldnt take my scottish £5 note, I dont see what the problem is, perhaps just "a London" thing but dont want to take the risk

More likely, they don't know how to tell a real Scottish banknote from a fake.

The legal tender comment was more of a nod to the Michael MacIntyre sketch than anything.

I actually remembered a question about them not being legal tender from a pub quiz

Now that Ive heard various comments, Ill be trying to get a hold of English ones prior to heading down.

I take it you don't own a stall or a bar at Glastonbury and if you did I bet you would be looking for counterfeits.

    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
