Rap metal icons Rage Against The Machine have confirmed more details of their upcoming free show in London.

A true 'David vs Goliath' battle, the campaign to send Rage Against The Machine to Christmas number one last year succeeded beyond anyone's wildest dreams.

Amongst the highlights: Rage Against The Machine performing on 5Live, Cheryl Cole going into meltdown over the apparent 'bullying' of Joe McElderry and of course that final, historic chart countdown.

Smashing into the charts at number one, Rage Against The Machine fought off competition from the might of 'The X Factor'. A campaign driven by fans, the band donated all profits to charity and announced a one off show in London to celebrate.

Taking place in Finsbury Park on July 6th, the show will feature support from Gallows. Now the Daily Swarm has claimed that Rage Against The Machine will be supported by Jane's Addiction and Gogol Bordello.

The show is free to fans who entered a prize draw, with 40,000 people set to descend on Finsbury Park. Bound to be one of the live shows of the year, Rage Against The Machine have promised "a victory party to end all victory parties".

Los Angeles sleaze-rockers Jane's Addiction are due to perform, with Perry Farrell & Co. always a spectacular live act. Gogol Bordello recently released their latest album, a collision of gypsy-punk and South American rhythms.

Meanwhile, that historic Facebook page is still clocking up fans. It currently stands at 532,969 people - more than 28,000 over the actual amount of singles sold to defeat X Factor winner Joe McElderry.

According to their website, Gogol Bordello are playing Rock am Ring on 6th June, although they are apparently supporting Rage in Dublin and in Holland. :P

Neither of the other two have anything listed on their websites for 6th June - so maybe :P Shame cos Gogol Bordello are a good laugh live - but neither of the other two appeal to me! :P

Interesting - I wonder what they mean by 'shortly' - and whether we're right in what we've guessed so far :P

Looks like its not true anyway.

"UPDATE

Except, of course, they won't be. Rage Against The Machine are still planning to play a one off show in London, but their PR company have just informed ClashMusic that no decision has yet been taken on the support acts.

Looks like The Daily Swarm jumped the gun, and we followed. Apologies all round, but more on the full line up when we have it!"

That was on clashmusic.com

    • It's a smart move because week after 5 fests already confirmed: Download (not officially), Nova Rock, Greenfield, Mystic, Sweden Rock
    • Oh I 100% agree and I'm questioning a lot.
    • That would be a day ticket for Friday going based on that. In 2027 that would suck for me lol.
    • And it's been moved forward a week, same weekend as RaR
