Hate to get arsey over an irrelevant point and all, but all Download sites are Livenation sites. Look at the page source and the description of the page is

"Official website for the Download festival at Donington Park in Derby. In 2010 features AC/DC, Them Crooked Vultures, Deftones, Stone Temple Pilots, Bullet For My Valentine, Megadeth, Motörhead, Wolfmother and Volbeat and many more. Find Download Festival tickets, information, merchandise and more."

Anyway, I don't think it's DC being embarassed over playing Download, I think its more of a hugely inflated 'we're too big for festivals' ego.

Which I've just realised is pretty much exactly the same thing. :P

Anyone else noticed that AC/DC aren't actually mentioned once on the main download festival homepage?

http://www.downloadfestival.co.uk/home/

That's a bit strange when the other 2 headliners have big ads along with most of their supports and one 2nd stage headliner don't you think?

This really is turning into a 2 day festival :P

As long as Download just go and confirm at least 3 more bands for the main stage, I'll be happy. Otherwise, I'll feel slightly shortchanged - though it reduces the likelihood of me missing out on Unearth or Lawnmower.

I gotta say, getting AC/DC is something major and is worth a few sacrifices time-wise

From what i gather, its only the mainstage that'll be cut short so it's not a huge number of slots that wont happen.

and really, I'd much prefer to have AC/DC play what hopefully will go down as one of the best festival shows in a long time, than have a few bands lower down on the mainstage

I just messaged AC on twitter and asked if its just going to be the 3 bands mainstage on the friday and he replied "Maverick_AC @r0w84 It's not been decided yet...we're still working through things" ....which im taking in other words means "yes its just 3 bands mainstage on friday but we'l wait untill we shift more tickets before we hit you with the bad news" .....really does look like ACDC dont really wana be asociated with the festival and are just billing the friday as a big seperate ACDC gig at Donington.

its true, friday would be a half day if they dont annoucne anything more

thus making it the same level of festival as sonisphere which is a lot cheaper.

It worries me they 'havent decided' yet, whats not to decide? people are pissed off. Get more bands, the longer you leave it the more difficult it will be to get any notable names for it.

I was told before Christmas that there would only be 2-3 bands on the main stage from someone very close to the promoters, so am not expecting to see any more added. AC/DC apparently also only agreed to play if it was on the Friday so that they could have the whole of Thursday to set up and soundcheck.

Personally, I don't care as in my mind AC/DC can do pretty much whatever they like.

I dont think its completely out of the realms of possibility for the other stages to finish BEFORE wolfmother and TCV come on. 'dc are going to want the entire crowd at the main stage if they are filming it.

not saying its deffo going to happen, but think about it, look at how sparse the other two stages are. I know the arena is supposed to be starting later, but if the lineup does remain as is on friday it could really happen.

It depends how far 'dc want to take the whole "its our day" attitude.

I think to put 3 bands on the main stage would be extremely damaging commercially. Especially as the poster implied there would be more when I got my ticket. (Only after I had bought had the poster turned into the acdc graphic)

If I wanted to see DC with 1 or 2 other bands I would have gone and seen em at Wembley. Would have been cheaper as well!! :P:P:P

This has never been done in festival history so will be interesting to see what happens.

People have been given a free half day but never had a day relegated to a half day.

ACDC are big but they are not that big. They don't warrent knocking 4-5 bands off the main stage unless they are going to adjust the ticket price accordingly.

I wonder if this would become a trading standards issue maybe? Year on year they have 8-9 main stage bands then one year only announce 3. It's a joke if it's true! Friday would essencially be a half day.
