I was there and they were great! Twas the first time I'd seen chris do the little trick with the lantern which drew gasps from all those around as the stage exploded (I was right up the front as there was a massive lake between the left side of the stage and the water aid tent so you could just walk up if you were happy to stand in a foot of water!)....everybody I met that year swore blind they wouldn't be seen dead at the pyramid when they were on...well, I dunno where the other 80,00 people in the field came from, but there were a lot of people there!...basically it's too easy to slag Coldplay. They've always been my guilty little secret and I thought the last album was great and saw them in the O2 last year and again they put on a cracking show (though the contrived Arcade Fire-ness of viva la vida (the song) was a step too far for me). I think they'd actually have a bigger crown at 12am on friday than if they headlined..I'll certainly be thiere if it turns out to be true.

It seems too easy to slag them but I don't mind tieing my colours to the mast and say they are pretty much my favourite band. They were the first band I went to see live supported by Richard Ashcroft at Earls Court. I went to Wembley last year (saw Jay Z again as a result - epic).

I am so hoping they appear at some point and don't clash. Sunset slot would be perfect but I reckon an earlier performance is more likley and would be very special. Hopefully this opening the Pyramid rumour comes true.

Coldplay are a 'Guilty Pleasure' of mine. A rush of Blood to the head is one of my all time favourite albums. Not seen them sicne about 2005 at Crystal palace (there was a thunder storm during the gig which just added to the experience) would ove to see them at Glasto would definitly see them above an awful lot of the confirmed or rumoured acts.

In response to the question "Coldplay, When will we know?" I'm guessing if it is a secret gig, then the first you'd know about it is if you came across a stage and everyone in front of it had fallen asleep.

That might give it away.

I'm sure I read a Bono interview a while back saying that they were just going to rock out.

Well, as much as U2 can rock out, but you know what I'm saying.

Considering the festival I wouldn't have any problem with Bono highlighting a whole host of issues or talking politics on stage. Music can just be fun to jump around to but it can mean much more than that and can provoke, unite and persuade people to change things ( We will overcome anyone?)

I don't like U2's music myself but it pisses me off when people moan about Bono politicking, I think he deserved great credit for it.

Absolutely.

Expect a tribute to Aung San Suu Kyi during Walk On, and Iranian protesters during Sunday Bloody Sunday. If Oxfam are highlighting the siuation in Haiti, then many artists will probably say something, but other than thtat I wouldn't expect too much else.

His political bits of the concert dont wind me up anywhere near as much as how he first comes onto the stage- arms outstretched like the messiah engulfed in swarths of dry ice. I could never see chris martin doing that- or anyone else for that matter apart from perhaps michael jackson.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
