Yeah, I've not seen the original tweet, so I probably shouldn't comment. But what I mean is: AC saying "the fact this band is headlining Download will be the music story of the year" is very different from saying "one of our headliners will be the biggest music story of the year".

I'm actually becoming more inclined to lean towards these SOAD rumours... It's certainly not impossible that Serj's comments were a bluff.

Exactly: denying a rumour of SOAD playing is idiocy for a promoter - he wants as many people to buy tickets as possible, and won't care too much if people buy them over a false rumour.

You always have to remember that running a festival is always a huge financial risk and is never a guaranteed success, so they need to maximise their sales as soon as possible to keep themselves out of serious financial trouble.
