U2's green 'credentials' are absolutely dreadful. Given the fact that Elevation Partners is a private equity firm that owns 40% of Forbes Magazine they don't have much in the way of traditional 'leftie' credentials either.

Plus their music is rubbish.

I last went to see a Pyramid headliner in *insert year here* on the Saturday for Radiohead. Sadly, a day of Jimmy Cliff, Flaming Lips, Polyphonic Spree, etc. left me ill-prepared for that (far too happy ) so the excellent Super Furry Animals were enjoyed by at least one English person .

Not been back for a headliner since, as other stuff always seemed more of interest to me personally.

If (and it's a big one) Stevie Wonder plays on Sunday, I may claim a place in front of the Pyramid at least a day early.

Stevie effing Wonder might actually play at Glastonbury? I'm a bit too over-excited to comment accurately on my current state of mind. Anyone thinking that's a bad call is entitled to their opinion, but I feel on any music-related conversation I might find them at least a little bit odd.

I fear anyone hoping for a ticket on the resale has just gained millions of new adversaries...

I wasn't saying they have any integrity about it, but whoever it is may make the right noises. How often do we get some celebrities, usually musicians, on the TV banging on about the environment when they have just flown in from {insert country of choice} to do the interview, when a satellite link would do just as well. Or even better, a Bugs Bunny cartoon, usually more grounded in reality but less funny.

Oh absolutely. Musicians really aren't best placed to chat about green issues.

There are those who recognise that, and quietly go about offsetting the impact of their touring.

Bono isn't one of them. In fact, U2 is just one big money-making machine. The hypocrisy makes me feel quite ill. That coupled with Bono's presistent preening self-satisfaction is ultimately the reason why I hate him and the band.

Take Thom Yorke and Bono meeting with senior world leaders a few years back. Yorke was chatting about social and economic reform, whilst Bono was there smiling for the cameras. He has done more harm than good in Africa.

That's clearly just my opinion, hence the reason why I asked for yours. Bono's approach to me seems largely simplistic: give aid, sort the debt, provide education, and everything will be sweet. He's over-simplifying the problems here. Inevitably, the message must be kept simple but ultimately it results in moralising rather than intellectually robust discussions about how to actually solve the problem. For me, celebrities do more harm than good in these situations, and Bono is the epitome of this. More aid may harm individuals rather than give them the opportunity to help themselves. Governance seems to be the key issue.

Hes seen as a twat by most people, as is Geldof. Its inevitable when you dabble in "charidee".

It would be much easier for him to do what Jagger does for charity (which is f**k all), and seem cooler.

To be honest, it's the hypocrisy of the man that frustrates me more than anything else. His much-publicised tax-dodging being a case in point. I guess it comes down to the age-old philosphical question: is there such a thing as a truly altruistic act? Bono is a self-publicist. It strikes me that he's more concerned with public perception and being canonised.
