Regardless of personal taste Daft Punk have had multi platinum, international album sales, countless international number 1s and chart singles, been in/mentioned in films/cartoons/adverts/games, had samples been used in succesful songs(Kanye West anyone?), won grammys and other awards and even their non studio albums are succesful.

That to me sounds like what is called in the industry as 'selling out'. Leftfield used 1 track in an ad and it just so happens that ad was voted the greatest advert of all time! Thanks to superb directing but an absolutely perfect tune to go with it. And just to add, Kanye West f*cking destroyed that song!!! Why they let him do that I'll never know. (Selling out springs to mind).

So going by your theory, Susan Boyle is bigger than both Leftfield and Daft Punk. Nice.

"Bigger" means more well known in public and number one singles etc, not better music imo.

Take That are "bigger" than pretty much every act at Rockness but are they better? IMO - No. There not my taste, but they are "bigger"

As for Daft Punk VS Leftfield, we cannot judge the live show as leftfield havent played in 10 years, and Daft Punk played 3 years ago.

Im gonna see Leftfield, no band/dj doesnt perform for 10 years and then does an average dj set .................................

No I didn't I gave a list that included sales. Your forgetting all the rest I said :P I actually made a point of not just using sales because I knew people would give me the old 'well the Spice Girls have more sales' blah blah blah! :P

As to the number....

Even the lower number, 20000 is at least 2/3rds of the entire audience.

Would agree, biggest one I've seen at Rockness is the Prodigy.

Well there is a video on youtube taken from outside which shows there were thousands outside the tent at Daft Punk. It also pointed down towards the manics crowd which was very, very small.

    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
    • Yeah mentioned in the park thread but feel more Woodsies to me
