Proposed Changes to the Licence

Although we know that the license have been accepted; this is not 'official'. GFL may announce that the car parks are open at 3am or something, similar to other festivals, but have the license to open them earlier if big queues are forming. I think some people are over reacting abit about this.

OK first I am going to ask to be forgiven for being a stoopid. I have had a three day banging headache and even making a brew this morning felt like a Krypton Factor challenge. My eye actually feels like this :P

I have read this thread end to end and I am a bit, erm, confused.

First of all I would like to say I understand the logistics of "you can't sleep in the car during the festival" and the one night only rule of "you can sleep in the car because it isn't like during the festival time when we direct the resources to places other than the carparks" That makes perfect sense to me.

So the idea is designated carparking fields will open from 9pm Tuesday night. You will need to kip in your car and not behave like a twaT and encourage other people to do the same (could you imagine if it was like at school and one person got the whole class into detention..... but much worse!)

The next day Gates will open at usual time.

Some people think this is a pants idea because it means hanging about in longer queues (in thier opinion).

These are my questions. I wonder if anyone can set me straight.

Will there be a cut off time for entering this early arrival carpark or can people potetially arrive all night long and all through the early hours of the morning?

Once in this carpark will you have to stay there in the morning or can you navigate yourself to a different one nearer where you 'intend' to camp so that you don't have to walk the width of the site with a stonking great bag and a tent? Or will it end up in all likelyhood, if you choose to move your car you will have to exit the site, join the traffic outside then reenter at the place of your choice?

We travel in our little van so go into van parking, how will that work the next day, will we have to be moved?

Does anyone really think, I mean really really, that this is going to cause dementedly long queues to the moon and back in the morning?

Sorry for being a div :P

The details of how things will operate hasn't been announced yet - so none of these things are clear as yet (even what time it might open).

However, I doubt vehicles will be able to be moved - I strongly suspect that once you park, that's where you stay. So I guess it'll be up to each driver to ensure they get themselves in the most suitable car park, as is the case normally.

2. Early arrivals will be able to park up from 9.00pm on the Tuesday. Campervan and caravan areas would be open from noon on Tuesday. All vehicles must be off the site by 5.00pm on the Monday. Extra car parking for 5,400 cars will be made available.

Does this apply from 2010 or 2011 ?

Has it been confirmed yet, or is it still to be passed by the council ?

The licence has been confirmed, which allows the festival to open at those times - if they want to. They don't have to.

THE FESTIVAL HAS NOT CONFIRMED ANY DETAILS YET.

Until they do, the times and other conditions that might apply to any early parking is only guesswork.

Should make it easier on the roads, however I expect bigger queues getting into the festy itself. Still the queues for getting in move pretty quickly so no worries there.

I should also think it will be pretty quiet on opening night as all of those that did'nt get any sleep trying to kip in their cars will be knackered by Wednesday night.

LOL.
