:D

Pardon?

I'm saying that I think that anyone who is unable/unwilling to separate any feelings towards Bono and the music he makes is quite clearly stupid. Same with any other artist.

Now, if someone finds someone so objectionable (due to reported racism, controversial statements they may have made etc, etc - again, see Clapton or sifi's example of Roger Waters) that they refuse to listen to their music on general principle, that's a bit different. But to say that hate it simply because they harbour a baseless personal grudge on the performer themselves is stupid and ignorant.

Not everyone likes U2. Fine - I accept that. My dad loathes them - he finds their music boring. Fine. His opinion. But a lot of people don't like U2 purely because they hate Bono.

Averages? Where did you get that from? :D

Oh, for the record - I don't like Bono. I quite like U2. They'd be an excellent headliner.

Where did I find these averages! I have a friend who has recently had to take an offical IQ test with my University and we provided with information, also it is all over the Internet. Yes the Internet isn't always correct but it just backs up with the information my mate recived.

Wasn't there that study in America which looked at what kind of music students liked, and compared it with their SAT scores? Bob Dylan fans scored very highly, whilst fans of the American Idol were the thickest, or something like that?

So if I'm reading that correctly fans of Lil Wayne, Soca and Beyonce are the stupidest while those who are fans of Sufjan Stevens, Counting Crows, radiohead and U2 are quite bright and anyone who is into Beethoven is a god damn genius. However if you are a classical music fan you are not too bright either. Interesting

Looks like a load of guff to me, but wasted a few minutes of time on a Friday and that is not a bad thing

Are you saying you don't know anyone who hates U2 purely because Bono gets on their tits, and not because of anything they've done musically? Because I know plenty. And I will call them moronic because of it.

Really? I find it really hard, almost impossible to separate the art from the artist. In my mind, they pretty much inextricably linked. It really annoys me, sometimes I wish i could distance the two, but I can't seem to be able to. It's a bit of a pisser really.

Well if I was true to my word, I'll call you a moron, but that would be rude, so I won't.

There are plenty of artists who I'm sure I'd hate to meet/have met, but I love their music:

Noel Gallagher

Eric Clapton

Chuck Berry

John Lennon

Kurt Cobain

All apparently are/were a bit twattish, but I have a lot of respect for them as musicians.

Ah, now I'm the opposite with Noel Gallagher. His music's crap but I reckon he's a good bloke (even if he is a Man Shitty fan  )

    • When do we get stage times through? Also, how close are we to full lineups for the Lorde and Deftones dates?
    • I would assume that Sabrina will be their plan B if Madonna falls through.
