Firstly, great job in 2009, I think it was one of the best and I’ve been to every Glastonbury since 1982. I know you must be busy looking for acts for 2010 so I thought I would help with a list of ideas I’ve been developing since 82!

I don't understand how someone who plays hard rock - Alice Cooper - can be classified as MOR (middle of the road) in the same way as Coldplay and Keane, who play melodic pop.

It seems to me that people really don't have a clue what they are talking about - and in some instances just use comments that they don't understand to describe something they don't like.

Not at all, I use MOR as an adjective to describe the intention behind the music rtaher than as a genre definition i.e. to mean unadventurous, bog standard music with, for me, no interesting unusual distinctive feature that challenge and push boundaries.

I think it's perfectly possible, for example to describe both Andy Williams and Status Quo as MOR

Oh, I see. You mean you use it in an entirely different way than it's actual usage. Good work.

I use the word "tosser" in a similar way. I don't mean someone who spends long periods of time mastubating themselves because there is no way they can get laid, what with all their personal problems and skin complaints, but as someone who uses common musical phrases and words to mean something else entirely different.

Mind you, I was probably being over the top. I get upset when people describe something as breathtakinig as Child in Time as MOR. I think I nearly called someone else a parasite earlier too.

Oh, okay, well by my understanding of the definition, anything with a bombastic rock guitar sound would probably not be MOR. Even his glam-rock stuff in the 80s isn't MOR by what I define as MOR. MOR is soft nasty rock, or easy listening, stuff like that.

Not someone who documents through rock music what happens when he took too many acid trips, and guilitines himself live on stage.

It's clear to me some people just don't like "Classic Rock" - fair enough, but it's not MOR. I don't like, erm, Drum and Bass. But I don't think it's MOR, by the way.

That second definition from Wiki is just too subjective I reckon to meaningful.

Smoke on the Water, Strange Kind of Woman and Highway Star are all great but Child in Time is just musical masturbation.
