Will the government laws ruin Festivals

I see that the government are now picking on alcohol this is their next thing that they are going to control just like they did with the smokers i am wondering when they will restrict people from drinking and how they can do this at a festival i mean eventually this country will go to the dogs there will be no drinking, smoking,eating fatty foods and even worse a drug free smoke free alcohol free festival

well, I could think of quite a few things worse, but... where did this sprout from? Your paranoia? The whole point about banning smoking is it affects everyone around the person smoking... how does drinking affect anyone apart from the person with the drink?

Wow, this thread has just a touch of Daily Mail Paranoia about it, the laws the government are trying to bring in are apparently aimed at stopping Pubs, Bars & Supermarkets selling alcohol at stupidly low prices to cut down on binge drinking I hardly think that such laws would effect a festival were your paying upwards of £3 a pint, there is no way that a government that gains so much money from the taxes it puts on Alcohol & Tobacco is going to attempt to ban drinking or attempt to stop people smoking outside at a festival.

Everything in moderation. I've had drunks falling over me at festivals (I actually had to take care of one) so pissheads are no more fun than smokers. And if they start at fight at chucking out time they are definitely no fun.

I remember talking to a friendly cop at Glasto a few years ago on a Saturday night aand asked him what he'd be doing if he wasn't at Glasto and he said on duty at closing time breaking up the fights outside pubs in Frome. He admitted that a bunch of stoned out hippies in a field at Glasto was a lot easier to manage.

I don't even really know what this thread's about, but I agree with Grumpyhack, the WORST aspect of drunks/drinkers is the aggression.

if you're in the same space (room, whatever) as a smoker you will be affected by their smoke

Every cigarette smoked will have an effect on other people in the same space, this is not true of every person who drinks

do you really think it's the same (as standing next to someone drinking)?.... if so, I'll bow out now, as I have problems dealing with illogical discussions
