Libertines for 2010

I think Pete is desperate for it to happen. It's nowt to do with his solo career being too much of a flop for him to handle tho, oh no.

The question that Pete seems to be ignoring tho is what Carl thinks. And everything I've read suggests that - for the moment at least - he's not interested. Probably because Pete is still the same Pete that he kicked out of the libs.

This!, all I've personally seen is Pete keep going off about the reunion and how he wants to do Babyshambles, solo and Libertines all at the same time. Personally I think it will come down to if Carl needs the cash or not sadly.

I also love how some people are going on about it like it's a massive reunion on the lines of Blur well Libertines are average band with what 2 albums?

and even that is being incredibly generous! Over hyped cack in my opinion - only in peoples consciousness due to a dirty skag head singer getting banged up and shagging a has been model. They couldn't headline my local.

nah, that's not quite true.

Tho being stupidly overhyped by nme and people falling for it is much the same thing.

Get real. Everyone knows they'll sign exclusive and headline Leeds / Reading for lots and lots of money. And money is the ONLY factor which will persuade Carl, I bet he thinks Pete is a reyt prick.

Still, I'll be in Leeds.

Would be strange to see the Libertines on the Pyramid stage. I usually avoid it, but for them I'd make an exception. (I'd even go to Reading if they were playing there and I hate the atmosphere at Reading). I can understand why some people might not like them, but I do. And if they do reform, I don't think it will be about the money but because they want to do it. After all they played the Rhythm Factory in May for no money at all (and they were fantastic - incredibly intense & clearly enjoying the occasion).

according to today's Sun (yeah, I know ), Carl Barat has begun work on his debut album.

If it's true than I reckon that 100% rules out any chance of any Libs reunion next year, as Carl will be wanting to promote that album rather than undermine his solo work by playing as the libertines again.

So I reckon any future words from Pete about a reunion next year can be totally ignored.

Or Pete being the complete moron that he is will do a reunion without Carl and make complete tit of him self by trying to juggle three projects and making them all worse than what they are.

But yays for carl, can't wait to here the solo stuff =]

[/qu

The doing it without Carl comment was clearly a joke. And, at the @ the NME awards (which was the first time both Peter & Carl alluded to a possible Libertines reunion in 2010), they said that Carl was going to do his solo album first. Given that Peter's done one, he would obviously want to do so. They still seem pretty competitive. And as for juggling muliple projects, Peter seems better when he's busy so I don't see the problem.

It'd be awful, one of those bands that were amazing at the time because of the furore surrounding them, and the intensity of the performances etc.

They were pretty much vital to the UK 'indie' guitar scene that sprung up after them.

Imagine them now though, in fact, imagine them on an outdoor stage. Bad idea.

I'd love to see them but I think I'd prefer something low key like just Peter and Carl doing a wee impromptou set on a small stage. The more hyped it is the more likeley it is to disapoint. I'd be surpsrised if there was a full scale reunion this year but I can see something happening at some point in the future

i'd love to see a libertines re-union!

not sure i'd want to see them headline glasto or R&L though. they don't really have the sound to pull it off in my opinion. it would be good to see them second on the pyramid or main stage at R&L.

carl barat's solo stuff will be as bad as dirty pretty things stuff i reckon .....ie shit, he needs pete doherty's soul and pete doherty needs carl's structure in order to make their best music.
